A Book Reward for myself: My stress reliever

Hello Everyone here in the Hive Community! Hope you are all doing fine and great! It is my first time to share to all of you how bookaholic I am hahaha😄. I already mentioned in my introduction post how love reading different kinds of books most especially those self-help books. For today I will be sharing to you guys how I reward myself, not with foods and trip for now but one of my stress reliever as well, that is me rewarding myself with a book.

Its been weeks since I last purchased a book for me. I do not buy books just for nothing, because to tell you honestly are just way more expensive than my food expenses hahaha😄. Like 1 single book can take up half of my allowance. The reason why I decided that I will just buy a book for a self reward, and I will not buy a new one until I finished reading my last read book. Its also my way of disciplining myself in terms of budgeting my finances and controlling myself to buy first the essential things. I became so obsessed with books since when I was in elementary, that my father made me a bookshelves and put all my books in there.

The first person who gave and gifted me a book is my partner, because I don’t ask my parents and family to buy me a book. I just saved up all my school allowances and try not to eat outside just for me to buy a new book. Yes I can attain all that sacrifices just for a book hahaha. They said that a person who loves reading and buying books is a weird type of person, someone who has their own world and someone who doesn’t one want to socialize with other people, that is the mentality of a typical person everytime that hear or see someone who is like that. Well I can’t blame those who think of that way, though you cannot please everyone and its hard to explain something or your side to someone who doesn’t have any idea on what you are doing.

Though they’re quite correct hahaha😄, if they think that its weird to always read and be addicted to books, its really okay if that’s their perspective, there is nothing wrong with that, as long as they are not going and saying things beyond your belt, then everything is truly okay. A few weeks ago, we went to SM mall to just roam around just to relax, because we’ve been busy studying and doing all our life activities, we just ate in a cheap restaurant and just roam around, my boyfriend told me with an excitement on his face “be I have an idea, malipay ka ani!” (malipay: is a bisaya term for happy or to be happy) then he laughed so hard and he was so excited. We walked so fast that time, after a few round of steps, he said that I need to breath and relax and don’t be so excited with a laughing face. I just did what he told me. He brought me to my favorite bookstore of all time, The Book Sale, it has been my favorite bookstore since when I was in high school where I consume all my vacant time reading and scanning inside the store, it’s a thrift bookstore, its not like the National bookstore where the books are all brand new. In Book Sale most of the book there where pre-owned or preloved but its well cared of. But they also do have brand new books and magazines, anime series and also wattpad series.

I became addicted to their store because of how well they organize their books, I do not mind even if its already pre-owned, I love that kind of books since I knew that someone red it and appreciated its story. Some books also have text highlights and the previous annotated it which I love, the more annotation the book has, the more I think that the previous owner truly read it with their heart and mind. I rewarded myself with two wisdom and worship book, because I’ve been so productive this past few weeks and in those weeks I never think of giving up, I think its worth to celebrate.

To everyone, don’t be guilty if you want to reward yourself with something that will make you happy. Our lives is too short to be wasted working all day. Remember that we’re also human beings who needs to rest and be rewarded.
