Good day to all of you from over the world. I said earlier in my last post that I am going to release posts regarding the novels I have read or am reading. The first novel I read is a series which was written by Christopher Paolini and released in 2001. It's a Chinese novel that is based on the plot of dragons. The series is known as "The Inheritance Cycle". The first book was Eragon, then Eldest, Brisingr (fire), then finally Inheritance. It all started when a young boy named Eragon, who is a poor village boy whose parents were not mentioned, found a stone that he thought was Saphira. He lived with his Uncle Garrow and cousin Roran on a farm near Carvahill. Don't think wrongly here, they live near a village, not in a village.

Before I go into the details, I think I need to let you guys know some things about Dragons. According to the novel, or as I would like to put it, book. Dragons are said to have their consciousness even before hatching and a dragon egg can stay unhatched for thousands of years until it finally finds one suit to be its rider. A baby dragon has chosen a rider, or a dragon rider to be its master. According to the book, the "would-be" rider is the one who can make a dragon egg hatch. If the dragon feels you're the one meant for it, when the egg reaches your hand, a scorching pain will be felt on your palm where a silver imprint would be made.

This silver imprint signifies the bond which has been established between the would-soon-be-born dragon and the dragon-rider. This incident led to the involvement of this boy and the mysteries which he tries to uncover.

Meanwhile, the ruler of the kingdom is an evil dragon rider named Galbatorix. He is obsessed with controlling all the dragon riders in the kingdom. He has some workers who are supernatural creatures. Galbatorix because of overconfidence, got his dragon killed and then he became deranged after the death of his dragon. He applied to get another dragon but he was denied. If any one of both parties, I mean the dragon and its rider, dies, the other would be down with depression as they have become one after the bonding. Galbatorix, because he was denied his request, began training dark arts in secret and eventually became corrupted. The dragon egg that hatched to be Eragon's dragon was one of the last 2 dragon eggs in the world as female dragons have gone extinct.

If I go on and on, I would keep writing for days and I don't think anyone is interested in reading such a long review. The story goes on as Galbatorix discovered that the dragon egg hatched for Eragon and wanted to capture him. Eragon fled from his village which was later wiped out as the King's men couldn't find him. The books continue to tell the story of the hidden and open wars between Eragon and Galbatorix with many twists involving even Eragon lineage and finally ended with the death of Galbatorix and the revelation that there is a secret underground compartment where there lay thousands of dragon eggs and Eldunari which means the heart of hearts of a dragon. It contains all the knowledge and experience that a dragon has experienced during its lifetime.

There is also something known as True name, this is the ancient name that is unique to everything, and anyone that knows the true name of another person or beast can easily manipulate the person into doing his bidding. Galbatorix literally and figuratively begged to be killed as a spell was cast on him by Eragon that made him feel all the emotions he has caused others to feel since his birth and he couldn't endure the pain.

I would recommend this series to anyone who loved anything that has to do with dragons and elves and other magical creatures.
