Come in and and hail to the knigh in the book armor, George R. R. Martin, most know for his saga of "song of ice and fire", or "Game of thrones" for most folks that saw the series on HBO to be let down by an unpolish ending; for the rest of the readers here we are... waiting... two more books on the horizon.

Bienvenidos y alaben al caballero en armadura de libros, George R. R. Martin, mayormente conocido por la saga de "cancion de hielo y fuego" o para el pueblo, "juego de tronos" por la serie de HBO que a muchos desepciono con su final; para el resto de los lectores aca estamos, esperando... dos libros mas en el horizonte.

Im not here to talk about his most selling novel, im here to talk about "Tuf Voyaging", writen in 1986.

The novel is set up in space, this man, Haviland Tuf , a vegetarian and cat lover, becomes an owner of an Ark and this is were his misadventures begin.
The idea is that this ark has the most advance tech and it works at a seedship that has everyhing one needs to create life. He travel from planet to planet selling solutions to problems. This issues each planet have are reflection of real social problems and a way the author believes it could be solved.

No estoy aca para hablar de su novela mas vendida sino de "los viajes de Tuf", escrita en 1986.
La novela se situa en el espacio, este hombre, Haviland Tuf, vegetariano y amante de los gatos, se convierte en el dueño de un Arca y aqui es donde comienzan sus desventuras.
La idea es que el Arca posee la tecnologia mas avanzada y funciona como una nave semilla donde se tiene todo lo necesario para crear vida. El viaja de planeta en planeta vendiendo soluciones a problemas. Estos conflictos reflejan problemas reales de la sociedad y la manera en la que el actor cree que se pueden resolver.

Antes de la historia; porque pusieron un caballero en la portada de un libro espacial? Dinero y ventas imagino.

Im gonna focus in the main planet tuf gives three visits. The issue here is that society is extremly religius planet were families have childrens continously, this take the plante into overpopulation, and put it on the verge of world hunger.
The first time Tuf makes a seed that grows fast and can grow on land and sea on high speed.
When Tuf comes back the the planet has the same issue beacouse of the extra food they reproduce even more. So he makes a seed that can grow even in walls, but taste like nothing. So they could live and be feed and continue with their reproductive culture.
The third time he comes the socity is again on the verge of hunger. Tuf creates another seed, but this one has a twist. This new seed throw a pollem in the air that made the 70% of the natives sterile. He gives the big red button to the leaders of the planet and leave the decision to them.

Are we going that way? Will we have a Tuf to save us?

Voy a concentrarme en los problemas del planeta principal que TUf visita tres veces. El conflicto es que la sociedad es extremadamente religiosa y las familias tienen hijos continuamente, esto lleva al planeta a la superpoblacion y la pone en el limite del hambre global.
La primera vez que Tuf arriva crea una semilla que crece en tierra y agua a gran velocidad.
CUando Tuf regresa el planta se encuentra en la misma situacion ya que al tener mas comida se reproducen aun mas. Asi que crea otra semilla que crece incluso en paredes, pero sabe a nada. Por lo que todos son alimentados y pueden continuar con su cultura.
La tercera vez que llega la sociedad esta nuvamente al limite de la hambruna. Tuf crea nuevamente otra semilla, pero esta tiene una vuelta. Esta nueva semilla tira al aire un polem que esteriliza al 70% de los nativos. Le entrega el gran boton rojo a los lideres del planeta y los deja con su decision.

Estamos yendo a un futuro apocaliptico? tendremos un Tud que nos salve?
