I was a teenager when I first read "Treasure Island" by Robert Louis Stevenson. From that moment on, all stories about pirates, ships and treasure will always capture my full attention. With current books something happens to me and that is that most of them are of a genre called "Romantasy" in which they mix romance and fantasy and that's where the whole plot is centered. So obviously I started reading this book with a lot of caution and apprehension.

Era adolescente cuando me leí por primera vez "La Isla del tesoro", de Robert Louis Stevenson. Desde ese momento, todas las historias de piratas, de barcos y tesoros siempre captarán toda mi atención completa. Con los libros actuales me pasa algo y es que la mayoría son de un género llamado "Romantasy" en el que mezclan el romance y la fantasía y es en dónde se centra toda la trama. Así que obviamente me empecé a leer este libro con bastante cautela y aprehensión.

Alosa is the daughter of the Pirate King, Captain Kerrigan. She was trained by her father, a ruthless criminal, to be his successor. But for this to be a fact, she must pass multiple tests, and she must prove to her father that she is worthy of inheriting the entire ocean. So she embarks on an important mission at her father's request, and plans her own kidnapping, allowing herself to be trapped by the hand of Draxen and Riden, the captain of the enemy ship and her first mate.

Alosa is a dangerous criminal, she is 18 years old, but she is ruthless, strong, and capable of doing anything to achieve her goals. What she did not know would happen is that she would be bewitched by Riden, who, unlike her, is not a ruthless pirate. So, while she tries to finish her mission, she starts to create some bonds with her captor, which would trigger, as expected, an outcome quite different from what she expected.

The reading of this book was quite fast, being a juvenile book, it reads very easily. What pleases me about it being a juvenile book, is that it has no racy scenes, and believe me I expected them, because it is common these days. However, for me, it was one, this first book in the saga was pretty predictable. Obviously, we knew I was going to fall at Riden's feet, if this didn't happen, I might be disappointed, and I wouldn't know what I was reading.

Alosa es una peligrosa criminal, tiene 18 años, pero es despiadada, fuerte, es capaz de hacer cualquier cosa para obtener sus propósitos. Lo que no sabía que iba a ocurrir, es que quedaría hechizada por Riden, quien a diferencia de ella, no es un pirata despiadado. Es así, que mientras intenta finalizar su misión, empieza a crear algunos lazos con su captor, lo que desencadenaría, como es de esperarse, un desenlace bastante diferente al que ella esperaba.

La lectura de este libro fue bastante rápida, al ser un libro juvenil, se lee con Mucha facilidad. Lo que me agrada de que sea un libro juvenil, es que no tiene escenas picantes, y créanme que las esperaba, porque es el común de estos días. Sin embargo, para mí, fue una, este primer libro de la saga fue bastante predecible. Obviamente, sabíamos que iba a caer rendida a los pies de Riden, si esto no pasaba, podría llevarme una decepción y no sabría que estaba leyendo.

It is a bit difficult to make a deep analysis of a book that clearly is not. However, there are things that could have been done differently. For example, at the beginning of the book, she could have given me a little more detailed description of how they got caught and not just start during the capture. This left me a little confused. Although throughout the chapter she was explaining how and why she got caught, she doesn't fully introduce me to Alosa until about halfway through the book.

Another thing I felt the need for because she was lacking so much, was the magic system in this book. And while I'm used to reading fantasy books where magic is not very noticeable (Lord of the Rings and Song of Ice and Fire), when we are introduced to it, it's like an unexpected avalanche. I could read a pirate book with no fantasy at all, and it would be fine, but in this case there's a lot of it, and it's not well presented.

Es un poco difícil hacer un análisis profundo de un libro que claramente no lo es. Sin embargo, hay cosas que podrían haber hecho diferentes, por ejemplo, al principio del libro pudo darme una descripción un poco más detallada de como se dejaron atrapar y no iniciar justamente durante la captura, puesto que esto me dejó un poco confundida. Aunque durante todo el capítulo fue explicando cómo y por qué se dejó atrapar, no me presenta por completo a Alosa, sino hasta más o menos la mitad del libro.

Otra cosa que sentí la necesidad porque ella carencia era mucha, fue la del sistema mágico en este libro. Y aunque estoy acostumbrada a leer libros de fantasía en el que la magia es poco notoria (El señor de los anillos y Canción de hielo y fuego), cuando nos la presentan, es como una avalancha inesperada. Podría leerme un libro de piratas sin nada de fantasía y estaría bien, pero en este caso hay mucho de esto y no está bien presentada.

It took me about 4 hours to read the book, in two days I had already devoured it, actually it was only one day because I started a chapter during one night and the rest I read in one afternoon. I could recommend it if you like action, confrontations, romance, and a bit of fantasy. Despite everything I've said, it's not a bad book, and obviously I'm going to read the next ones to see if it improves the experience.

Me tomo aproximadamente 4 horas leerme el libro, en dos días ya me lo había devorado, realmente fue un solo día porque me empecé un capítulo durante una noche y el resto me lo leí en una tarde. Podría recomendarlo si les gusta la acción, los enfrentamientos, el romance y un poco de fantasía. A pesar de todo lo que he dicho, no es un mal libro, y obviamente me voy a leer los próximos a ver si mejora la experiencia.
