However, we are not going to enjoy this plot in familiar or modern settings, because the writer Eduardo Aguera takes us to experience emotions and intrigue within the walls of the Abbey of Saint Germain. That's right, friends; this is a promising story, because this author is known for offering us texts that emphasize historical and suspenseful novels. I love this type of narrative, and Eduardo has a unique ability to present us with highly historical settings, focused on the Crusades or medieval times.

These characters are not seen as simple knights, but rather they are presented as key elements in solving the most difficult puzzles. We can enjoy all of this in the work El Asesino de la Rosa (The Rose Killer), an extremely interesting book that I have just enjoyed, in which we have a very particular investigator, himself a Knight Templar, who is responsible for solving the various murders that have taken place within the walls of the Abbey of Saint Germain. I can tell you that the plot is addictive and intriguing, and it transports us, the readers, to the era in question. It's a novel that you shouldn't miss.

A place that goes from being a space for faith to becoming the center of a series of murders that are apparently difficult to solve. As a result, the Pope needs to hire the services of Sulón, a Templar knight who will be in charge of investigating and getting to the bottom of these terrible crimes. To do so, he also has the help of young Max, a very special assistant who will do everything possible to be useful to the seasoned knight. What I like about this way of presenting the story is that we are not going to see a modern detective. Imagine the way this character investigates, facing many difficulties, false leads, and obstacles everywhere, because apparently there are people who do not want the truth to come out.
As we continue reading, the story becomes more interesting. It feels like we are watching an episode of CSI Las Vegas or Miami set in medieval times. Reading this book truly takes you beyond the simple lines on the page. Now, everything takes a deeper turn, because another murder has occurred, and this one is none other than that of the Bishop of Paris. All of this forces us to discover what is happening and will be the driving force behind the growing fear among the members of the church. At that moment, the author makes us understand that no one is safe and that no matter who they are, death will not respect their rank. We do not know the murderer's motive, but what is certain is that there is a feeling of envy and corruption in the air; that is our assessment.
The killer has a particular signature; he leaves a rose, and from my point of view, it means that the victims have secrets or sins that needed to be purified. I also think it's a way of believing himself superior to the victims and the investigator himself; the rose is the key, and Sulón knows it. The truth is that the story moves too fast, leaving no time to think and keeping us very confused as we try to solve the crimes and find the killer. I find this narrative style very appealing, and it draws us into the protagonist's sense of urgency to stop the murders; we are definitely always on alert, and in our minds we have created a fast-paced movie.
Things get much more dangerous as murders continue to happen. At the Abbey, fear rises exponentially; everyone is on the verge of exploding and prayers seem useless. Here, Eduardo fills us with fear and uses the psychological aspect in a disturbing way. Suspicions are latent and lead us to think that anyone could be the murderer, because everyone could be hiding dangerous secrets that could lead them to commit the terrible murders. Sulón continues to investigate, but I see that he is in a dead-end maze and believes that he is at the center of a religious conspiracy where he could also be a victim. When he thinks he has a good lead, it turns out that it leads him back to the beginning. Definitely, the killer has left a puzzle that challenges the investigator's mind and ours. In the end, we are stunned by the discovery of the killer and, as always, we will never know what is hidden inside the minds of people who appear to be good. Les digo que la trama es adictiva e intrigante, además de que la misma permite que nosotros como lectores, nos transportemos a la época en cuestión; una novela que no debes dejar de leer.

Lo que me gusta de esta forma de presentar la historia; es que no vamos a ver un detective moderno, imagínense la forma de investigar de este personaje quien debe afrontar muchas dificultades; pistas falsas y obstáculos por doquier, porque al parecer hay personas que no desean que se sepa la verdad.
A medida que avanzamos en la lectura; la historia se vuelve más interesante, pareciera que estamos viendo un capítulo de CSI las Vegas o Miami con vuelta a un pasado medieval; de verdad que la lectura te hace ir más allá de unas simples líneas. En ese momento; el autor nos da a entender que nadie está a salvo y no importa quien sea, la muerte no respetará el rango que tengan; no se sabe cual es el motivo del asesino, pero lo que si es cierto, es que en el ambiente existe un sentimiento de envidia y corrupción; es la apreciación que nosotros tenemos.
El asesino tiene una firma particular; deja una rosa y desde mi punto de vista, quiere decir que las víctimas tienen secretos o pecados que necesitaban ser purificados. También pienso que es una forma de creerse superior a las víctimas y al mismo investigador; la rosa es la clave y Sulón lo sabe. Lo cierto es que la historia tiene un ritmo demasiado rápido, no deja chance para pensar y nos mantiene muy confundidos, al querer tratar de resolver los crímenes para llegar al asesino. Esta forma de llevar la narrativa me atrae en demasía y nos une a los sentimientos de urgencia del protagonista por detener los asesinatos; definitivamente siempre estamos alerta y en nuestra mente hemos creado una película que avanza rápidamente.
Las cosas se ponen mucho más peligrosas, ya que continúan sucediendo asesinatos. En la Abadía, el temor se eleva exponencialmente; todos están a punto de explotar y los rezos al parecer son inútiles. Aquí; Eduardo nos llena de mucho miedo y usa de forma inquietante el aspecto psicológico, las sospechas están latentes y nos lleva a pensar que cualquier puede ser el asesino, porque todos pueden ocultar peligrosos secretos que los lleven a cometer los terribles asesinatos. Sulón continúa investigando, pero veo que que se encuentra en un laberinto sin salida y él cree, que está en el centro de una conspiración religiosa donde también pudiera ser una víctima.
