If you'd like to learn more about this event, I recommend watching the film "Innocence," which accurately depicts this tragic incident.

Cuentos y Cartas al Rey de nuestra querida escritora Ángela Oramas Camero, la misma nació en el 10 de diciembre de 1942, en La Habana.
Gran periodista y escritora, fundadora del Noticiero Información Política de las Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias (FAR) y el Ministerio del Interior (MININT), del que fue también directora; creó y dirigió durante diez años la primera revista en Cuba dirigida a la mujer joven, Muchacha; ocupó durante tres años el cargo de subdirectora de Radio Taíno. Es vicepresidenta de la filial de prensa de la Unión de Historiadores de Cuba (UNHIC) y vicepresidenta del Club Martiano de prensa “Gonzalo de Quesada”, se encuentra como colaboradora activa de prensa digital en Cubarte.

"Cuentos y Cartas al Rey", es una obra que entrelaza la crónica histórica, la fantasía y la identidad nacional para narrar el nacimiento y evolución de la ciudad de La Habana durante el periodo colonial (entre 1519 y 1899).

Precisamente el libro funciona como un viaje en el tiempo. No se limita a una sola historia lineal, sino que utiliza una serie de relatos y epístolas para reconstruir la vida en la capital cubana desde su fundación.

Son más de setenta relatos breves donde la autora mezcla datos históricos reales con leyendas. El argumento de estos cuentos suele destacar la relación de los habitantes con su entorno natural y geográfico. Se presentan personajes que encarnan el espíritu de la época, permitiendo que niños y adultos comprendan la historia de Cuba no como fechas frías, sino como vivencias mágicas.

Ángela Oramas no solo busca informar, sino emocionar. El argumento tiene una intención didáctica: rescatar el patrimonio cultural de La Habana para las nuevas generaciones, utilizando un lenguaje lleno de ternura que convierte la investigación histórica en una lectura amena y mágica.

Luego de haberme leído la obra, puedo decir a ciencia cierta que mi relato favorito es el que lleva por nombre “ Los ocho inocentes”, en este se narra la triste y real historia de los estudiantes de medicina el 27 de noviembre de 1871, acusados falsamente por el Cuerpo de Voluntarios de haber profanado la tumba de un periodista español, este hecho doloroso que marcò la historia de nuestro país. Te invito si quieres indagar acerca de este hecho a visualizar la película “ Inocencia “ la cual narra al dedillo este trágico acontecimiento.

En el libro además vas a encontrar relatos llenos de magia y misterios, propios de aquel entonces, no dudes en buscar este libro y disfrutar cada uno de sus capítulos.
