Condé Nast Traveller : Learning From A Magazine

Do people still read print magazines?

I wonder about that sometimes because these days, in most bookstores the magazine section is rather small. Books occupy the most of the shelves and only a small section has magazines. In the past, I could never afford to buy a print magazine, especially an English magazine such as National Geographic. I could only check magazines online and learned about layouting of magazines from online sources. But in recent years, I am quite fortunate to afford it. By now, I have been collecting about 10 magazines from national geographic and also Condé Nast Traveler each year. As a gen Z, I don’t think many people around my age even read print magazines. But to me, reading print magazines offers an interesting perspective.

Today I will be specifically highlighting Condé Nast Traveller, a travel magazine, published under Conde Nast publication. The magazine itself has a luxurious touch to it. The layouting is something I really adore. If you write travel blogs or content, their layout can be an inspiration. The picture is not crammed up into one but it makes everything easier to read. Some of my travel articles are even inspired by Condé Nast Traveller’s layout.

isn't it cool?

With advertisements from rolex and patek philliphe, it seems that this travel magazine catered to a certain audience. The places recommendations are no joke, they are definitely not for a budget traveler but for those who are into luxurious travel.

The content of the magazine is what you could expect from a posh travel magazine. Every word said is eloquent. The choice of word is efficient but elaborative. Everything was written thoughtfully without a rush. Each of the contributors in that magazine made us feel like we’re being pampered on a luxurious getaway. And that is something that I personally learn from that magazine. I want to learn how to bring my words into something that leaves a feeling as if I am taking everyone with me into a journey, even if that’s not a luxurious one.

Reading that magazine won’t bore us. Instead, I personally find it inspiring. These magazines made me want to better myself, the way I write, and the way I layout things in my blog. It also offers an interesting narrative rather than just boring factual information. If you have never read these types of magazines, I really think you should check them out even if you think that is so out of fashion.

I always forget which generation I belong to, when I started reading you I had to go google and found that I'm generation X 😁.

I never collected magazines but I did grow up among them, my dad is a hoarder it sounds ugly to say but it's the truth he always accumulated everything, starting with books and everything that gives knowledge, they just bought them and left them to their fate, while I was growing up he had the obligation to take care of his collections and clean them, he still keeps many popular mechanics magazines and seeing your post I feel motivated to show that part of my history that can entertain others.

Your magazines look very sophisticated, and I'm sure with practice you will manage to take us all on your travels and adventures.

P. D. Every month that I come across a magazine I feel a horrible urge to touch it and read IT. @macchiata

I particularly liked this paragraph. Most people don't like physical books. Everything is done online...newspapers, novels and yes, magazines are all being read online and it has caused printing companies to slightly adjust tactics.

There are positives also. For one, some trees have gotten a break. Hahaha.

Nice post

hahaha some trees definitely have gotten a break. It's just nice sometimes to have something to read when electronics aren't there or isn't allowed. Plus, it's refreshing too, staying a bit from the screen.

Sure. When there is an EMP blast. Hahaha. I do understand what you mean though...the feel and smell of a new magazine is awesome.

Whenever I am on a flight or just bored of phone and other type of screen, I prefer to read 🙂 but yeah, the smell of a new magazine is unmatched, the same thing with paperbooks.

😌 Do you like all magazine or just lifestyle?

I like travel and natgeo magazines.

I myself love sport magazines and pets.

I love reading Magazine's. I used to go on the fashion side of the magazine or the latest update in Hollywood kinda stuff. I used to collect them when I was in high school. I do used to cut out some photos and paste it in my scrapbook 😊

Scrapbooking was something my mom did. I saw her collections which mostly fashion and culinary magazine. It looks really fun but to me, I feel bad cutting a nice printed magazine 😂

Hahaha I know right but it looks good on the scrapbook 😆

Thanks for tip you sent for my World Kidney day by the way. I agree with you, magazines are great things and I used to write for one in the distant past. Until it was dropped by it's publisher, which was a real shame. I also like the fact you have to make time for a magazine :-)

No worries, I wanted to upvote the post but the reward was declined. So, I sent a tip instead. There's always time for a travel magazine 😄
