Call me dumb, but I don’t find a Kobo E-reader the most intuitive device on earth. There I said it! Fair enough once your are in your book it is all fine, but navigating around to get your books there can be a bit of a hassle sometimes. Especially when you want a book that is not in the Kobo store (yet) which is very often the case with Dutch books, you need some work arounds.
Usually I would do this with buying it through a Dutch web book shop and by using a laptop and just connecting with and USB- micro USB plug. But you have guessed it, no laptop with me. And that is more than often the case when you are buried in some books actually. That is because you have the time and you don’t have your laptop with you.
So I went on the big world of interwebz and found this website which lets you upload your book to your E-reader and synchronizes it. Now I am not sure if post is allowed in the community of the 'Hive Book Club' but on the other hand I am sure bookies can appreciate this as much as I did!
So here we go!
Synchronizing without a cable
Step 1. Make sure you have wifi on your E-reader and on your phone/tablet/computer and that it stays on running the whole time.
Step 2. Go to https://send.djazz.se/ on your phone and also on the Kobo as well. This what your start screen will look like:
Step 3: Choose and upload the Epub you want to receive on the other device.
Step 4: On your E-reader you press to generate an unique code. This code you will fill in one your phone/tablet/laptop so that they are able to synchronize.
Step 5: Download the Epub on the E-reader
- Step 6. Enjoy your book!!!
As you can see this genius creator Djazz has put it all open source on Github and he is not even pulling a fee on it.
I love these types of smart things that solve minor world problems but which are the daily things you run into. And I love it even more than they are free to use because the businesses like Kobo ofcourse want you to take a monthly subscription. But when you are like me, you are not a monthly reader, but you do want to buy books to support the author.
So there it is. A short cut to easy stuff! Enjoy!
