This book is attributed to Chinua Achebe, a writer who at his time came across a conflict, a civil unrest in a nation where multi ethnic groups exists and located.

Personal Review

It tells us about or we learn of a particular tribe (Ibos) that was not welcomed and is not welcomed by other ethnic groups, this people were regarded as the "Brain box behind the nations economy" contributing to all forms of labour. They (Ibos) were seen with vast knowledge in all field and professions, and prospering and archieving their goals beyound other tribes and doubt (Ethnic group) in thier jurisdiction. We learnt about the conflict and what led to a coup and civil war, and how it was fought, nations that were involved and what rolls they played, it teaches us on how to avoid conflict, how to handle conflicts and what rolls to play.

In line with our present day struggles, this book still reminds us that we could face such civil unrest and same conflict (Which we have been facing over the course of years) if nothing is done to change the present blood shed, hunger, starvation, bad governance, ethnic rejection, unemployment etc.

Now this book is telling us about a people existing in the easthern part of Nigeria, the rejection the face, the struggles the face and pass through and the cries to be held, the freedom and justice the seek from the world and their colonizers.The Ibos ever had a country that existed in there hearts. I think THERE WAS A COUNTRY is iconicall important to the black people, precisely Nigerians as a nation,we could see many legacies that were kept by our previous fathers, and what we could learn from them, this is a history that can't be forgotten but can be tapped in to fix they present day nightmares. If we could pay attentention, go back in time and review the conflict, there would and could be chances for us to be reedemed, and We could be the authors of our time. Indeed it's an interesting book to read.

Brief History About The Nigerian Civil War

The Nigeria Civil War was fought between the Nigerian government and the Biafra separatist government between july 6 1967 till 15 january 1970, a state which declared its own independece in 1967. The Nigeria Armed forces was led by General Yakubu Gowon and Lieutenant Coloniel Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, the easthern and south easth ethnic group believed they could no longer live with the nigeria rule of government were Muslim hausas and fulanis consisting of the northern part are dominating, this tension resulted as political, ethnic, economic, culture and and religious unrest.

Fearing imaginalization,the south easthern part of nigeria declared independence on May 30 1967, it came as a result of coup in 1966 which saw General Aguiyi Ironsi picking up power and becoming president. A few months later, an offencive counter coup was led by a notherner and he was killed.
