It's frustrating to fall into a slump over a book that doesn't live up to expectations, either because it's too good and leaves you breathless, or conversely, as in your case, a book that disappoints you.

I think it's very brave of you not to let this discourage you and keep looking for what inspires you. It's true that sometimes those books that promise a lot can turn out to be a real challenge. Hopefully your next read will bring back that spark and reconnect you with that community you miss so much.
