"Creative Adventures" Collection: Playdough [ENG/ESP]

Hello everyone, today while visiting my grandmother for a while, and joking around with my aunt, I came across a small book that brought back memories of my childhood, where I used to strengthen my mind with various learning activities such as crafts or drawings, along with my grandmother and uncles. This particular book played a significant role, as it was part of a collection that sought to encourage creativity. So, after looking through it a bit, I decided to share this book from the "Creative Adventures" collection with you, which focuses on working with modeling clay.

Hola a todos, hoy visitando a mi abuela un rato, y mientras hacía bromas con mi tía, me topé con un pequeño libro que me hizo evocar recuerdos de mi infancia, donde solía, junto con ella, mi abuela y tíos, reforzar la mente con diversos aprendizajes como manualidades o dibujos, y justamente este libro tuvo mucho protagonismo, ya que formaba parte de una colección que buscaba incentivar la creatividad, por lo que luego de revisarlo un poco, decidí compartir con ustedes este libro de la colección "Aventuras creativas", enfocado en el manejo de la plastilina.

Creative Adventures is a collection of educational and interactive books published by Editorial Ltda., distributed in 2005 and available with the newspaper El Nacional. The series consisted of six volumes: "Cartoon Drawing," "Digital Art," "Drawing and Painting," "Crafts," "Paper," and the one I'm presenting here, "Play-Doh." In addition to coming in a beautiful, colorful box, each volume included an interactive CD that complemented the book's content.

Aventuras creativas es una colección de libros didácticos y reactivos publicados por parte de la editorial Ltda., los cuales fueron distribuidos en el año 2005, los cuales se podían adquirir en conjunto con el periódico El Nacional. Estos se dividían en un total de 6 tomos llamados "Dibujo animado", "Arte digital", "Dibujo y pintura", "Manualidades", "Papel" y el que les traigo en esta ocasión, "Plastilina". Así mismo, además de venir en una hermosa caja colorida, estos traían un CD interactivo y complementario a todo lo que eran estos tomos.

Each of these volumes, by covering different topics, promoted creativity and the implementation of activities for development and fun, and I must say that at my grandmother's house we got a lot of use out of them, and with this volume on the use of modeling clay even more so, since it was a time when week after week, on each visit, we would get to work learning or making some of the figures shown, since this particular volume is presented in a very visually attractive way, with a story told through key characters, which are made of modeling clay, further highlighting the value and effort put into this book.

Cada uno de estos tomos, al tocar temas distintos, promovía la creatividad y puesta en práctica de actividades para el desarrollo y diversión, y debo decir que en casa de mi abuela le sacábamos mucho provecho, y con este tomo sobre el uso de la plastilina aún más, ya que fue una época donde semana a semana, en cada visita, poníamos manos a la obra en aprender o hacer alguna figura de las que se muestran, ya que este tomo en particular se nos presenta de una forma muy atractiva visualmente, con una historia contada a través de personajes claves, los cuales están hechos de plastilina, realzando más el valor y el empeño puesto en este libro.

The course introduces us to color theory, covering primaries, secondaries, and gradations, as well as various basic techniques and tools for working with modeling clay. The aim is to show that clay is not just a fun activity, but a medium through which we can create figures and anything we can imagine, with tips and techniques for different textures and uses, such as coloring backgrounds, which I enjoy because I know how to use gradients. Furthermore, the story unfolds through various eras and ages, allowing us to experiment with all kinds of creations, from birds, landscapes, and dinosaurs to knights and pirates.

Se nos muestra desde la teoría del color, pasando de los primarios, secundarios y degradaciones, hasta las diversas técnicas y herramientas básicas a la hora de manejar la plastilina, ya que se busca que no solo se vea como un medio de diversión, sino que a través de este podamos evocar figuras y todo lo que imaginemos, con tips y modos de textura y usos, como lo es el coloreado de fondos, lo cual a mí me gusta, ya que sé usar el degradado. Así mismo, como se cuenta a modo de historia, este viaja en diversas eras y edades, permitiendo que podamos experimentar con creaciones de todo tipo, desde hacer aves, paisajes, dinosaurios hasta caballeros y piratas.

And not only that, but it shows us the foundation and structure when creating characters, the combinations in skin tones and the various facial expressions and the way to make hands and feet, which for me is a total success, and which I remember every week; when I arrived at my grandmother's, my aunt already had a way of decorating and new tools to put into practice and spend hours there.

Y no solo eso, sino que nos muestra sobre lo que es la base y cuerpo a la hora de crear personajes, las combinaciones en tonos piel y las diversas expresiones de la cara y la forma de hacer manos y pies, lo cual para mí es un total acierto, y que recuerdo cada semana; al llegar a donde mi abuela, mi tía ya tenía una forma hecha de decoración y herramientas nuevas para poner en práctica y estar horas allí.

Personally, I feel this book is very valuable because, when I was younger, I used to have a similar one where I would sit with my mom making little snails and enjoying the interactive elements. So, this book of creative adventures is like continuing that learning process, which I find very fun, not only for children but also for adults, since clay art is one of the most complex and beautiful art forms. The fact that this book, as well as the others in its collection, are still intact despite the years means they have served their purpose very well, as each one offers the same level of instruction in its area in a fun and concise way.

Y es que este libro, en lo personal, siento que tiene mucho valor porque, siendo aún más niña, solía tener otro similar donde me sentaba con mi mamá a hacer pequeños caracoles y disfrutar de lo interactivo, por lo que este de aventuras creativas es como seguir con ese aprendizaje, lo cual veo que es muy divertido, no solo para niños, sino para adultos, pues el arte en pastilina es uno de los más complejos y hermosos. Por lo que el hecho de que este libro, así como los demás de su colección, aún estén intactos a pesar de los años, significa que han cumplido muy bien su función, ya que cada uno tiene el mismo nivel de enseñanzas en su área de forma divertida y concisa.
