If there is one thing that the post-apocalyptic genre has demonstrated over the years, it is that zombie stories can be much more than just a simple display of terror and horror. "World War Z," written by Max Brooks, is the compelling proof that this type of narrative can offer unparalleled depth. Let’s forget about the 2013 film adaptation, which, despite featuring Brad Pitt, strayed far from capturing the essence of the book. Here’s why "World War Z" is a book that you definitely need to read.

As soon as I saw this topic, the first piece that came to my mind was “The Fault in Our Stars.” I watched the movie adaptation a few years back. I didn't know there was an original book adaptation until last year. I don’t if this is weird, but sometimes, I prefer reading book adaptations of literary pieces than watching them. Sometime last year, I downloaded an E-book of The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. Although it doesn't make it to my top favorites, it is one of the books that inspires me. You know, when you read a book or watch a movie, you can feel a strong connection to a particular character; their way of life, experiences, and thoughts resonates with you. That's exactly how I felt when I read John Green’s The Fault In Our Stars. When I watched the movie, I wasn't drawn to the themes, but my perspective changed after reading the book.

Hello, letter-loving community! I wanted to share with you a recommendation of two books by Agatha Christie that I liked the most. If you like to read about crime the works of this author are great as a place to start. As classics of the genre they are very good and not so long. The author's style doesn't beat around the bush and presents her cases without extra filler or parallel histories, which have nothing to do with the case. The facts, the details, the thoughts of the characters (the incredible Poirot and the sweet Miss Marple are the detectives par excellence) intertwine in an impressive way and in the end everything fits together like a puzzle, because that is what her books are.

As I read the history of the area I currently live in, I came across new and interesting facts like how extremely wicked and diabolical the then king was, his polygamus nature and how much he despised some of his kids who turned out to be successful people in life. While some argue that his hostility towards his kids is what made some of them successful, others say that he was just pure evil and his hostility wasn't a form of training but a way of life.

Xiaolu Guo’s Nine Continents: A Memoir In and Out of China is a book that stays with you long after you’ve closed the final page. It is not only a story of one woman’s life but also an examination of identity, resilience, and the indelible connection between place and self. I read her words with a feeling of closeness to her struggles and her achievements, as if she were addressing me directly in a part of my being that was still connected to my homeland, Sarawak, Borneo, where my own cultural roots reside.

I like to think that I’m entering into a new phase of my life so I figured it was time to let go of some vices. I wouldn’t exactly call it a vice, but I don’t know. I think it would be worthwhile to try something else. And if you haven’t guessed already, it’s dark romance. Dark romance books have been part of my life for nearly a decade now and I won’t lie, it’s been a huge comfort to me and am outlet to dwell in a fantasy that’s more or less impossible for me to live out.

2024 was my best reading year. I read as many books as I wanted to and I swear I am so grateful for that fact. I had a great time reading. I read a lot of great books this year. I laughed, I cried, I obsessed until I read in the wee hours of the morning even though I knew I would regret it the next da
What is Hive Book Club?
Hive Book Club is a community made by book lovers, for book lovers. A place where the chaotic minds of writers may punch away words from their keyboards as they share their writing adventures. Where passionate book collectors may rummage through their stacks of books to share and review their latest additions. Outside of our regular curation process, we may create contests for our community to participate in, and earn even more from their posts. If you have a certain theme for a future contest you would like to see, let us know! Be sure to check with us frequently on our various social media platforms to avoid missing out!
How Do We Choose The Highlighted Posts?
For those of you curious as to how you may have been chosen or would like to be chosen in the future in one of these compilations: we scan through the community and read the many posts that the community members write. We then select four or five posts that we believe meet certain criteria and are worthy of sharing with the rest of the community. We aim to keep these selections diverse in style, from writing skills or subject matter.
Hence, throughout the week, the moderators will check the community and manually handpick the posts. Some factors include the post subject, post quality, engagement, personal voice, and general effort. If we choose you, or you happen to stumble across these highlights, please do check out the other posts we feature, and contribute to their curation and engagement!
