Back To Library & Reading Habit

in Hive Book Club3 years ago

A few days ago, our city library in Odžaci announced that on the initiative of the municipal president, the membership fee in the library is free for all residents of municipality. Yesterday I went to library to register and get my membership card, so I can get back to reading again.

I remember when I was at the first grade of elementary school, our teacher brought us to library because membership for pupils was free and implied. It was my first contact with the library and plenty of books. I went to the library every week to get new books and picture books to read and I was in a reading habit until I started college education. I stopped with reading novels because I have a lot to study for exams and didn't have much time for reading. But now, alhough I still have a lot of exams to pass, my wish to get back into reading habbit started to rising more and more.

This is my membership card and book I choosed for the first time. Librarian asked me if I want to look around and choose some book to bring home. I expected the books to be arranged on the shelves by genres, so I will easily find my favorite genre - mystery/thriller, but it's not. The books are arranged in alphabetical order of the authors' names, as well as national literature (American, Italian, English etc.). I think this is a worse way of sorting books and it's all pretty mixed up. Unlike a library, when I go to a bookstore I always know where I can look for a book which suited my taste, because books in bookstores are sorted by genres.

At first I was confused and didn't know where to go and what to look for, but I remembered that my plan is to read all books written by Donato Carissi and I've already found the first one there and read it, so I wanted to continue with Carrisi. I asked librarian where can I find Carrisi's books and she showed me shelves with Italian literature where couple of his books are. I couldn't remember the tittle of the next book in series so I choose random book from the shelf. However, at the end I will read it all I can find in library (I saw 5 or 6 of Carissi's books).

This time I choosed book "Lovac na duše" (original tittle "The Lost Girl of Rome"). It's interesting that Serbian tittle of this book means a soul hunter which sounds absolutely different than original tittle. I'm started with reading and I'll be back with review after I finish it :)

Have you ever read any of Carrisi's books and if so which one is your favorite? Or maybe you have a suggestion of any other triller writter? Thanks for reading! 😄

I was into Stephen King, some Horror genre and hooked for a while in Historical Romances 😅 but I'll try and keep the name Donato Carissi in mind next time I visit my favorite Used Book store. I've already got a big reading list.

Adding Carrisi's books to your reading list is the right thing to do, you won't regret it. Btw, I searched Stephen King on internet and seems like his books might be interesting to me. When I was younger, I brought home short horror books from the library so that this could be on my list. Thanks for suggestion friend :)
