Through them we contemplate how immense the human psyche is and we can come to identify ourselves on several occasions as we could ever wish to be in their situation. All nuanced by their different experiences, they bring a closeness that creates the feeling of a sustained intimacy through the pages.

A particular element in this narrator, and that we can verify is part of her style, is the fact of using an omniscient narrator who gets so close to the characters that he begins to link the speech of one and the other at will, without the use of punctuation marks that delimit one voice or another. This for less attentive readers could be a reason for slight rereadings, however those who pay attention will be able to notice and even enjoy these changes.

In "Versions of Thirst" we will not find explicit conflicts, because the real problem is in the minds of the protagonists of the stories. Everyone has something to say, and keeping silent provokes that anger, that rage, that thirst that leads them to want to break the barriers that suffocate them. With great care, myths are blurred and others are erected, overprotection and extreme carelessness, anxiety and disdain also happen, as well as countless antagonistic games that give this title that ability to retain the attention of whoever tries to get close to it.

Finally, I would also like to highlight the work in the design and editing of the copies. The contrast between the orange on the black and white photograph is able to attract attention from the first instance, also generating intrigue and inviting to make the purchase. Without a doubt, a well-studied and directed work.

There is nothing left but to recommend reading this book again and to follow closely the work of this writer.

Resulta sugerente el título "Versiones de la sed". Con él, Lourdes Mazorra se alza con el premio Pinos Nuevos 2020, y gracias a la Editorial Letras Cubanas podemos tener acceso a este ejemplar. Seis cuentos bastan en este cuaderno para explorar un denso universo de experiencias y sensaciones.

En la contracubierta un breve resumen nos adelanta "En este libro no hay personajes para el odio. Los seres que habitan estas ficciones escritas desde la franqueza tienen fuerza suficiente para imponerse, aun en medio de un entorno difícil, ( ... )". Pienso que quizás esto es una manera muy facilista de presentar todo lo que podemos descubrir en estos textos.

Concuerdo en parte cuando dice que los personajes no son dignos de odio; muchos son dignos de lástima, de pena, o tal vez de una leve admiración. Todos tienen en común una expresividad muy rica, imponente, reveladora. A través de ellos contemplamos cuán inmensa es la psiquis humana y nos podemos llegar a identificar en varias ocasiones como mismo podríamos desear jamás estar en su situación. Todos matizados por sus diferentes vivencias, aportan una cercanía que crea la sensación de una intimidad sostenida a través de las páginas.

Un elemento particular en esta narradora, y que podemos comprobar forma parte de su estilo, es el hecho de usar un narrador omnisciente que se acerca tanto a los personajes que comienza a ligarse el discurso de uno y otro a voluntad, sin uso de signos de puntuación que delimiten una voz u otra. Esto para lectores menos atentos podría ser motivo de ligeras relecturas, sin embargo aquel que presta atención podrá notar e incluso disfrutar estos cambios.

En "Versiones de la sed" no encontraremos conflictos explícitos, pues el verdadero problema se encuentra en la mente de los protagonistas de las historias. Todos tienen algo que decir, y el guardar silencio provoca esa ira, esa rabia, esa sed que los lleva a querer romper las barreras que los asfixian. Con mucho cuidado se desdibujan mitos y se erigen otros, pasan también la sobreprotección y el descuido extremo, el ansia y el desdén, así como un sinnúmero de juegos antagónicos que dotan a este título de esa capacidad de retener la atención de quien se procure acercarse a él.

Por último, quisiera resaltar además el trabajo en el diseño y la edición de los ejemplares. El contraste entre el naranja sobre la fotografía en blanco y negro es capaz de llamar la atención desde una primera instancia, generando además intriga e invitando a efectuar la compra. Sin dudas, un trabajo bien estudiado y dirigido.

No queda más que recomendar nuevamente la lectura de este libro y seguir de cerca el trabajo de esta escritora.
