El día de hoy vengo a hablarles sobre un libro que rompió mi corazón de muchas maneras; un libro que me había llamado siempre la atención pero que sabía tenía que leer en un buen momento emocional, cuando me sintiera lista, aunque no creo que nadie pueda estar listo para leer este libro.
El jardín de las Mariposas, es una novela de ficción y un Thriller escrita por Dot Hutchinson; donde nos presentan la historia que transcurrió en el jardín de una aislada mansión, un lugar hermoso donde hay hermosos árboles y flores. Su dueño, es un hombre al que llaman: El Jardinero, quien no conoce los límites para apreciar la belleza, tiene una colección de hermosas mariposas. Maya, es una sobreviviente de este jardín, y ella ahora le cuenta a unos agentes del FBI los horrores que vivió en dicho lugar, y un poco más allá. Esta es la Historia de un crimen imperdonable, y donde la moral no existe.
Today I come to tell you about a book that broke my heart in many ways; a book that had always caught my attention but that I knew I had to read at a good emotional moment, when I felt ready, although I don't think anyone can be ready to read this book.
The Butterfly Garden, is a fiction novel and a Thriller written by Dot Hutchinson; where we are presented with the story that took place in the garden of an isolated mansion, a beautiful place where there are beautiful trees and flowers. Its owner is a man called: The Gardener, who knows no limits to appreciate beauty, he has a collection of beautiful butterflies. Maya is a survivor of this garden, and she now tells FBI agents about the horrors she experienced in this place, and beyond. This is the story of an unforgivable crime, and where morality does not exist.
Este libro mezcla el tiempo cronológico, ya que podemos ver a Maya en el presente en la sala de interrogación con el par de agentes del FBI, pero también nos lleva hacia el pasado, incluso mucho antes del jardín; lo cual se agradece porque así podemos perfectamente entender el desarrollo de los acontecimientos.
Mientras más se adentra ella en su historia, más me metía yo debajo de su piel, llego un punto de la historia donde sentía como si fuera ella; es un personaje exquisitamente bien construido, una niña incomprendida y la cual se enfrento a situaciones muy crudas de la vida; que rompió su inocencia cuando apenas podía valerse por si misma. Pero Maya también es muy inteligente y a su manera abrió su corazón para recordar todos los horrores que vivió.
This book mixes chronological time, as we can see Maya in the present in the interrogation room with the pair of FBI agents, but it also takes us into the past, even long before the garden; which is appreciated because then we can perfectly understand the development of events.
The deeper she gets into her story, the more I got under her skin, there came a point in the story where I felt like I was her; she is an exquisitely well constructed character, a misunderstood child who faced very raw situations in life; who broke her innocence when she could barely fend for herself. But Maya is also very intelligent and in her own way opened her heart to remember all the horrors she experienced.
En esta historia no solo conocemos la historia de maya, si no muchas otras.... Conocemos personajes que si bien son muy complejos, tienen un gran desarrollo a través de la trama, lo cual le da un gran aspecto a esta novela. La verdad es que cada cosa esta muy bien escrita, es una lectura que cuesta emocionalmente porque hay momentos en los que me daba mucho miedo y no porque el lenguaje fuera grotesco, porque para nada si no más bien era la crudeza de la historia, que si bien se narraba de manera casual y casi ni detallada, aún así podías sentirla en lo más profundo de tu alma.
Les confieso que muchas veces tuve que parar la lectura, porque sentía que necesitaba procesar lo que había leído, mis emociones todo el tiempo estuvieron en un sube y baja; muchas veces incluso me llegue a preguntar si yo misma estaba a salvo de alguna vez ser desplazada de tu identidad, de tus raíces y de lo que más amas. De pasar por cosas tan horribles, llegue a sentir asco de como pueden haber personas que estén tan mal de la cabeza como para robarle a otro la integridad y la paz; como muchas veces las apariencias esconden horrores que muchas veces ni imaginamos.
Creo que hay cosas que nos duelen incluso cuando no las hayamos pasado, y leer tanta desesperación, dolor y cicatrices solo me hizo pensar en cuan doloroso puede resultar vivir. Este es un libro donde hay miedos tan grandes que paralizan a nuestros personajes, donde son humanos y tan reales que a veces parece una historia basada en hechos reales.
In this story we not only know the history of maya, but many others..... We meet characters that although they are very complex, have a great development through the plot, which gives a great aspect to this novel. The truth is that everything is very well written, it is an emotionally difficult read because there are times when I was very scared and not because the language was grotesque, because not at all, but rather because of the rawness of the story, although it was narrated in a casual and almost not detailed way, you could still feel it in the depths of your soul.
I confess that many times I had to stop reading, because I felt I needed to process what I had read, my emotions all the time were up and down; many times I even wondered if I myself was safe from ever being displaced from your identity, from your roots and from what you love the most. From going through such horrible things, I came to feel disgust at how there can be people who are so sick in the head as to steal another's integrity and peace; how many times appearances hide horrors that we often do not even imagine.
I think there are things that hurt us even when we haven't been through them, and reading so much despair, pain and scars just made me think about how painful it can be to live. This is a book where there are fears so great that they paralyze our characters, where they are human and so real that sometimes it feels like a story based on true events.
La verdad es que me quede con muchas ganas de leer otras cosas de la autora, porque tiene una forma de escribir realmente hermosa. Sé que después de este libro hay otros, que están en la misma serie porque envuelven el mismo género y temáticas pero que no tienen nada que ver con la historia de este primer libro, son independientes pero englobados en la misma serie.
Mi opinión bien personal de este libro es que no es para todo el mundo, necesitas tener cierta estabilidad para poder colocarte bajo la piel de los personajes y vivir toda la experiencia de lectura. Es un libro que rompe con muchas estructuras y que demuestra un golpe de una realidad donde hay atrocidades, donde hay injusticias, un mundo lleno de dolor donde la moral no existe y donde la perversidad se disfraza de admiración. Es un libro que quizá toda persona deba leer en algún punto donde este preparado para asimilar los sentimientos que transmite esta lectura.
The truth is that I really wanted to read other things by the author, because she has a really beautiful way of writing. I know that after this book there are others, which are in the same series because they involve the same genre and themes but have nothing to do with the story of this first book, they are independent but included in the same series.
My personal opinion of this book is that it is not for everyone, you need to have a certain stability to be able to get under the skin of the characters and live the whole reading experience. It is a book that breaks with many structures and shows a glimpse of a reality where there are atrocities, where there are injustices, a world full of pain where morality does not exist and where perversity is disguised as admiration. It is a book that perhaps every person should read at some point where they are prepared to assimilate the feelings that this reading conveys.
El Jardín de las Mariposas, es un Thriller muy bien escrito, con una caracterización y/o desarrollo de sus personajes; unos personajes donde la belleza es casi que una maldición, la verdad es que aunque la crítica destruyo el final de esta historia, para mi si fue un buen final. Quizá no es una trama donde haya demasiados giros o que sea impactante pero tengo el presentimiento de que la intención de la autora tampoco fue esta.
En definitiva el Jardín de las Mariposas es un libro que me dolió, que me llevo a momentos oscuros pero que va directo a convertirse en uno de mis libros favoritos. Así que si buscas una historia cruda pero contada de una forma sutil y nada grotesca; y además sientes que tienes la estabilidad emocional para emprender esta experiencia de lectura, te recomiendo este libro.
The Butterfly Garden is a very well written thriller, with a characterization and/or development of its characters; characters where beauty is almost a curse, the truth is that although the critics destroyed the end of this story, for me it was a good ending. Perhaps it is not a plot where there are too many twists or that is shocking but I have the feeling that the author's intention was not this either.
All in all Butterfly Garden is a book that hurt me, that took me to dark moments but that is going straight to become one of my favorite books. So if you are looking for a raw story but told in a subtle and not at all grotesque way; and you also feel you have the emotional stability to undertake this reading experience, I recommend this book.
Concuerdo contigo en sentimientos que llegamos a tener al leer este tipo de libros, es muy duro todo lo que Maya tuvo que pasar, leer tu post me hizo recordar mucho también la historia Desde mi cielo que a pesar que en la película no especifícan mucho lo que le paso a Susie, en el libro podemos detallar lo cruel que fue todo.
