Hola querida comunidad de Hive, espero se encuentren muy bien. Como siempre, es un placer poder venir por este medio a hablarles de lo que tanto nos apasiona: los libros. Últimamente me he sentido muy animada con la academia de escritura, y uno de los temas que más me ha hecho reflexionar ha sido el de los elementos esenciales de una historia.
Hello dear Hive community, I hope you are all doing well. As always, it is a pleasure to be able to come here and talk to you about what we are so passionate about: books. Lately, I have been feeling very excited about the writing academy, and one of the topics that has made me reflect the most has been the essential elements of a story.
Hoy quiero compartirles los tres primeros elementos que considero más importantes y qué historias me inspiran a través de ellos.
Today, I want to share with you the first three elements that I consider most important and the stories that inspire me through them.
1. El tiempo/The weather
SourceEl tiempo es el contexto donde se desarrolla una novela; puede definir el tono, las costumbres y hasta la forma en que los personajes se relacionan. Personalmente, me fascina la época victoriana. No podría mencionar un solo libro, sino toda la serie Bridgerton.
Time is the context in which a novel unfolds; it can define the tone, customs, and even the way characters relate to each other. Personally, I am fascinated by the Victorian era. I couldn't mention just one book, but rather the entire Bridgerton series.
Amo las historias ambientadas en épocas burguesas: los vestidos elegantes, los bailes llenos de secretos, los romances imposibles y las intrigas sociales. Ese ambiente cargado de normas y privilegios me parece perfecto para escribir un buen cliché romántico. Las restricciones de esa época, lejos de ser un obstáculo, terminan dándole más fuerza a los sentimientos de los personajes.
I love stories set in bourgeois times: elegant dresses, dances full of secrets, impossible romances, and social intrigues. That atmosphere, laden with rules and privileges, seems perfect to me for writing a good romantic cliché. The restrictions of that era, far from being an obstacle, end up giving more strength to the characters' feelings.
2. El argumento/The argument
SourceEl argumento es el corazón de toda historia; es lo que guía al lector a través del conflicto y las emociones. A mí me encantan los libros de fantasía, sobre todo aquellos que tienen giros sorprendentes y tramas bien construidas.
The plot is the heart of every story; it is what guides the reader through conflict and emotions. I love fantasy books, especially those with surprising twists and well-constructed plots.
Un buen ejemplo de esto son las historias que incluyen reencarnaciones o personajes con un pasado oscuro. Me atraen especialmente los antiheroes, esos personajes que no son completamente buenos ni completamente malos, pero cuya evolución nos deja pensando en lo complejo de la naturaleza humana. Siento que ese tipo de argumento mantiene al lector enganchado, porque siempre hay algo más que descubrir detrás de cada acción.
A good example of this are stories that include reincarnations or characters with a dark past. I am particularly drawn to antiheroes, those characters who are neither completely good nor completely evil, but whose evolution leaves us thinking about the complexity of human nature. I feel that this type of plot keeps the reader hooked, because there is always something more to discover behind every action.
3. El narrador/The narrator
SourceEl narrador es, sin duda, una de las piezas más fundamentales en cualquier obra. Gracias a él podemos comprender los pensamientos, emociones y motivaciones de los personajes. Personalmente, me conmueve mucho el narrador en tercera persona omnisciente, porque permite ver el alma de todos los personajes y sus distintos puntos de vista.
The narrator is undoubtedly one of the most fundamental elements in any work. Thanks to the narrator, we can understand the characters' thoughts, emotions, and motivations. Personally, I am very moved by the omniscient third-person narrator, because it allows us to see the soul of all the characters and their different points of view.
Un ejemplo que me marcó fue el de la historia No soy Seth. La autora logró transmitir con gran sensibilidad los sentimientos de cada personaje, haciendo que el lector se sienta parte de la historia. Creo que eso demuestra lo poderoso que puede ser un narrador bien elegido.
One example that stood out to me was the story “I Am Not Seth.” The author managed to convey each character's feelings with great sensitivity, making the reader feel like they were part of the story. I think that shows how powerful a well-chosen narrator can be.
En conclusión, cada uno de estos elementos —el tiempo, el argumento y el narrador— cumple un papel esencial a la hora de construir una historia sólida y cautivadora. Juntos logran que una narración tenga vida, coherencia y emoción, gracias por leer.
