Hello dear friends of the Hive Book Club! I hope you are all well. To be honest, I have a little confession to make: this year, I have failed miserably at my goal of reading more. In fact, I have read at most five books this year because I have had to prioritise other things, such as exercising for health reasons, so I haven't had as much time for reading.

However, a few days ago, I was given some physical books as a gift, and I decided that, little by little, I was going to read them all. The first one I chose, and the subject of this post, is “The Colourless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage” by Haruki Murakami. I know this Japanese writer is very famous, and to be honest, I had never read anything by him, so I was excited when I saw this book among the pile I was given. The plot of the book is as follows: our protagonist, Tsukuru, is a man who, despite living a good life, carries a wound from his school days. When he meets a woman who makes him rethink everything in order to be better for her, he decides to investigate this wound so that he can be the best version of himself. This wound stems from the fact that his group of inseparable friends suddenly decide to stop talking to him, with no explanation other than telling him that they no longer wish to be his friends. This completely changes Tsukuru's life, first plunging him into a deep depression that leads him to contemplate suicide and affecting the way he relates to people for the rest of his life. It also leads him to question his value as an individual and to assume this ‘colourless’ persona, a metaphor derived from the fact that all the boys in the group had a colour as their surname and he was the only one who did not. Throughout the book, we see how the protagonist, empowered by the woman he loves, embarks on a journey in search of answers so that he can move on with his life.

For me, this book is an ode to delayed grief, inviting us not to put off our emotions because sooner or later they will always come to the surface and suppressing them will always have repercussions on us, whether physically or mentally. It also invites us to engage in dialogue and seek the reasons behind things and to be more condescending and empathetic towards others. The reason why they stopped talking to Tsukuru in the first place is quite ugly, but unfortunately it was a lie and the boy had no right to defend himself or contradict them. They simply discarded him, and this had repercussions on everyone else as a group in the long run, as the guilt took its toll on everyone.

When I started reading the book, I didn't think it would be so introspective. I liked it a lot and recommend reading it. I give it 4/5.

Hola queridos amigos de Hive Book Club! Espero se encuentren bien, la verdad tengo una pequeña confesión que hacer, este año he fallado estrepitosamente mi meta de leer más, de hecho he leído a lo sumo 5 libros este año pues he tenido que priorizar otras cosas como hacer ejercicio por cuestiones de salud por lo que no he tenido tanto tiempo para ello, pero hace días me regalaron algunos libros en físico y decidí que así fuese poco a poco iba a leerlos todos.

El primero que escogí y sobre esto se trata este post es "La peregrinación del chico sin color" de Haruki Murakami, se que es muy famoso este escritor japonés y la verdad nunca había leído nada de él así que me entusiasmo cuando ví este libro entre la pila que me regalaron.

El plot de libro va de lo siguiente, nuestro protagonista Tsukuru es un hombre que a pesar de vivir una buena vida acarrea con una herida del instituto y cuando conoce a una mujer que lo hace reemplantearse todo para ser mejor para ella, decide indagar en esta herida para poder ser la mejor versión de sí mismo. Esta herida tiene génesis en que su grupo de amigos inseparables de un día para otro decide dejar de hablarle, sin mayor explicación que la comunicación de que no desean seguir siendo sus amigos. Esto cambia por completo la vida de Tsukuru, primero sumergiendolo en una gran depresión que lo llevo hasta contemplar el suicidio y afectando la manera en que este se relaciona con las personas por el resto de su vida, también lo lleva a cuestionarse su valor como individuo y a asumir este personaje "sin color", metáfora que deriva de que todos los chicos del grupo tenían por apellido un color y el era el único que no. A lo largo del libro, vemos como el protagonista empoderado por la mujer a la que ama emprende una travesía en busca de respuestas para poder seguir con su vida.

Para mí este libro es una oda a los duelos retardados que nos invita a no postergar emociones porque tarde o temprano el siempre saldrán a flote y el suprimirlas siempre tendra repercusiones en nosotros, bien sea a nivel físico o mental. Asimismo, nos invita al diálogo y a buscar el porque de las cosas y a ser más condescendientes y empáticos con el otro, la razón por la que en principio dejaron de hablarle a Tsukuru es bastante fea, pero lastimosamente era una mentira y el chico no tuvo derecho a la defensa ni a la contradicción, simplemente lo desecharon y esto tuvo repercusiones en todos los demás como grupo a la larga, pues la culpa les pasó factura a todos.

Cuando empecé a leer el libro no pensé que iba a hacer tanta introspección, me gustó bastante y recomiendo leerlo, le doy 4/5.
