The Siege On Gun Ownership

in Politics4 years ago

Both Canada AND the USA are getting their gun rights attacked AT THE SAME TIME by their leaders.

And it's being done in the name of "stopping gun crime" and "saving the children."

Okay, enough with the virtue signalling and strawmanning...

You wanna stop gun crime? Go after the people doing the SUPER MAJORITY of the gun crime.

It's not duck hunters, target shooters and people defending their families.

It's CRIMINALS.

How do you go after them?

That's complicated BUT here's a start: bring back a JUSTICE system in BOTH countries instead of a legal system.

Meaning, run your courtrooms on JUSTICE instead of numbers. Predatory prosecutors cutting sweet heart deals to pad their numbers has to STOP.

⁸Well said.I think there's a lot that we could do to prevent gun violence . Many things lie around education. If we educate people they will be less likely to become criminals, therefore reducing gun violence.

That's true @andre-verbrick however it goes deeper. Child protection should be the top priority of our justice/legal system. You protect abused children, you won't stop all the crime, but you'll put a METEOR-sized dent in crime.

For more insight, check out Andrew Vachss. He's a lawyer from NYC if memory serves me correctly and his only clients are children. He used to run a juvenile detention centre and he said the worst of the worst, the ones who had no hesitation about hurting others had severe abuse in their history.

His books are amazing and his words hit to the soul of people (me) who were abused as children.

His understanding of the criminal class is so intimate that there are forensic psychologists who wish they understood criminals like he does (according to people I'm in acquaintance with who've worked with him).

Here's his website:
