Ante todo debemos entender que una reseña es más que una simple opinión, al menos desde mi punto de vista, es una evaluación de la obra, donde resaltamos puntos importantes que ayudarán a otros lectores a acercarse o alejarse de ella, así de importante es. Así que en este post voy a compartir con ustedes algunos consejos que, al menos yo, considero debería tener una buena reseña 😉, desde mi experiencia eso es lo que busco cuando leo alguna.

Para que no se te escape ningún detalle debes prestar mucha atención a la obra y no dar cabida a la procrastinación o a distracciones, leer es un momento sagrado. Si no estás seguro acerca de algún punto vuelve a leer la página o la línea cuantas veces sea necesario, y si sientes que es un poco confuso o que la información está incompleta, dale una oportunidad porque la explicación podría estar más adelante o incluso al final del libro. Ve registrando en tu mente cada personaje y cada escena que te va llamando la atención: las reacciones, las descripciones, analiza si te gusta o no el estilo narrativo del autor, que es lo que te ha llamado más la atención de forma positiva o negativa.

To ensure you don't miss a single detail, pay close attention to the text and avoid procrastination or distractions; reading is a sacred moment. If you're unsure about something, reread the page or line as many times as necessary. If you find it confusing or the information incomplete, give it another chance, as the explanation might be further along or even at the end of the book. Take note of each character and scene that catches your attention: their reactions, the descriptions, and analyze whether you like the author's narrative style—what resonated with you most, positively or negatively.

A medida que vayas leyendo te recomiendo que tomes nota de todo lo que va llamando tu atención: alguna reacción especial de algún personaje, un giro de trama muy interesante, estilo narrativo particular del autor, qué actitudes odias o amas de algún personaje, que emociones mueve en ti, que sensaciones te genera. Todo esto te ayudará a ser más autentico y a no pasar nada desapercibido cuando vayas a escribir tu reseña, le va a dar un toque más personal y menos genérico.

Before you sit down to write your review, objectively analyze everything you've read. Every aspect is important: character development, plot pacing, even if you didn't like the ending or think something doesn't quite fit—your opinion matters. Writing a review isn't just about highlighting positive points. If you find something you don't like, you should mention it, but it must be an objective, organic, and authentic analysis. Don't let yourself be influenced by other people's opinions.

Cómo conociste el libro, menciona si recibiste alguna recomendación o viste alguna reseña que te llamó la atención y te motivó a leer ese libro, si el autor tiene otras obras que ya hayas leído y cuales eran tus expectativas antes de leerlo.

Introduction:

How did you find out about the book? Mention if you received a recommendation or saw a review that caught your attention and motivated you to read it, if the author has other works that you have already read, and what your expectations were before reading it.

Resumen:

Tus lectores necesitarán contexto sobre la obra, recuerda que probablemente ellos no la hayan leído, así que necesitan saber más o menos de qué va la historia, pero procura ser breve, no se trata de hacer un resumen minucioso y mucho menos de hacer spoilers (yo particularmente amo los spoilers 😍 pero sé que la mayoría de la gente los odia, así que evito dar información de más en mis reseñas porque podría resultar molesto para alguien)

Summary:

Your readers will need context about the work; remember that they probably haven't read it, so they need to know more or less what the story is about. But try to be brief; it's not about giving a detailed summary, much less spoilers (I personally love spoilers 😍 but I know that most people hate them, so I avoid giving away too much information in my reviews because it could be annoying for someone).

Haz un análisis:

Expresa con tus propia palabras ese análisis que hiciste mientras leías, procura ser objetivo y muy sincero, haz énfasis en esos puntos que consideras los más fuertes de la obra, haz comparaciones con la vida real, incluso con tus propias experiencias, cuéntale a tu audiencia si empatizas con alguno o varios personajes y porqué, argumenta siempre tus opiniones, comenta si la trama te parece predecible o no, que te parecieron los diálogos (débiles o fuertes) cual fue la frase que más llamó tu atención y porqué.

Do an analysis:

Express in your own words the analysis you made while reading, try to be objective and very sincere, emphasize those points that you consider the strongest in the work, make comparisons with real life, even with your own experiences, tell your audience if you empathize with any or several characters and why, always argue your opinions, comment on whether the plot seems predictable or not, what you thought of the dialogues (weak or strong), which phrase caught your attention the most and why.

Conclusión:

Comparte con tu audiencia que enseñanzas te quedaron de ese libro y como podrías aplicarlas en tu vida cotidiana, revela si te gustó o no y porqué, comparte que es lo que más te atrajo o decepcionó de la obra, si realmente la recomendarías o no, incluso si la consideras infra o sobre valorada por la critica o la audiencia en general, y si lo prefieres, da tu propia valoración (del 1 al 10)

Conclusion:

Share with your audience what lessons you learned from that book and how you could apply them in your daily life. Reveal whether you liked it or not and why. Share what attracted or disappointed you most about the work, whether you would really recommend it or not, even if you consider it underrated or overrated by critics or the general public, and if you prefer, give your own rating (from 1 to 10).

Pour your heart and soul into that review. Write with sincerity and emotion. Comment on whether the story moved you to tears, if you enjoyed a twist of revenge, or if it made you laugh. All stories evoke emotions—that's the magic of reading. And just as authors pour their hearts into their work, it's our duty as reviewers to do the same.
