¿Cómo hacer para escribir una historia?
Es una de las muchas preguntas que me han hecho.
No soy una eminencia en la materia, pero en estos diez años escribiendo libros y con unos veinte terminados a mi cuenta, puedo decir lo que a mí me ha servido y lo que he aprendido en este camino de rosas y créanme, también de espinas.
Sin más parloteo, aquí vamos.
Lo primero que debes tener presente es: Tener clara una idea. Si, una idea de qué tipo de historia quieres. Esto incluye el género, los personajes principales, dónde se conocen, qué ocupaciones tienen estos, cuando y como se enamoran y tal vez como quieres el final.
Esto es imprescindible, así podrás dar forma a una historia fascinante y no te quedarás estancado en el primer capitulo.
Por ejemplo, “Carlos y Rosa se enamoran. Ella es enfermera y él es un paciente que está en emergencia por un accidente laboral. A Carlos le impresionaron los cautivadores ojos marrones de Rosa y su sonrisa perlada, ella enseguida se dejó atrapar por su aspecto tan varonil y su mirada penetrante y reveladora”.
De este modo tienes una idea base, pero te aconsejo que desde ese momento comiences a formar quiénes son Carlos y Rosa. Quienes son sus mejores amigos, ¿Tienen padres vivos o ya han muerto? ¿Están casados con alguien más, están divorciados o son solteros? ¿Cuál es su situación financiera y familiar? Además, es importante pensar en los retos que enfrentarán. Tal vez un ex celoso, las diferencias sociales o algún otro impedimento. El tipo de personalidad de cada uno y como ves ese final también es muy importante. Cuando tengas claro todos esos detalles, adelante. Puedes empezar a escribir.
How to write a story? It is one of the many questions I have been asked. I am not an eminence in the subject, but in these ten years writing books and with about twenty finished books to my credit, I can say what has been useful to me and what I have learned on this path of roses and, believe me, also of thorns. Without further chatter, here we go. The first thing you should keep in mind is: Have a clear idea. Yes, an idea of what kind of story you want. This includes the gender, the main characters, where they meet, what occupations they have, when and how they fall in love, and perhaps how you want the ending. This is essential, so you can shape a fascinating story and not get stuck in the first chapter. For example, “Carlos and Rosa fall in love. She is a nurse and he is a patient who is in an emergency due to a work accident. Carlos was impressed by Rosa's captivating brown eyes and her pearly smile, she immediately became captivated by his manly appearance and his penetrating and revealing gaze." This way you have a basic idea, but I advise you that from that moment you begin to form who Carlos and Rosa are. Who are your best friends? Do they have living parents or have they already died? Are they married to someone else, divorced or single? What is your financial and family situation? Additionally, it is important to think about the challenges they will face. Maybe a jealous ex, social differences or some other impediment. The type of personality of each person and how you see that ending is also very important. When you are clear about all those details, go ahead. You can start writing.
Cómo segunda sugerencia podría darte una que es, digamos, obligatoria. Toma notas de las ideas que te lleguen. Si estás acostado reflexionando un poco antes de dormir y te llega esa súper idea, por favor, no lo dejes para el día siguiente. Levántate y anota cada detalle. Ah, pero ¿Tienes un poco de flojera, cansancio o ya el sueño te domina? Podrías llegar a pensar: “Mejor, lo hago mañana al despertar”. No. Si no lo haces de inmediato, te juro que al día siguiente será demasiado tarde. Lo habrás olvidado todo y dirás: “¿Qué era lo que quería escribir? Era una buenísima escena. ¿Cómo pude olvidarla?” Sencillo. La mente es brillante , si. Nadie lo pone en duda. Pero a veces nos puede jugar una mala pasada y hacernos olvidar por completo lo que pensamos la noche antes. Así que no confíes en su capacidad para recordar todo detalle y escribe de inmediato esa importantísima idea. Para evitarte las molestias de tener que levantarte a media noche, graba en tu celular la idea y luego la transcribes, o ten un cuaderno y lápiz muy cerca de tu cama, y así podrás escribir sin tener que levantarte.
As a second suggestion I could give you one that is, let's say, mandatory. Take notes of the ideas that come to you. If you are lying down reflecting a little before going to sleep and that super idea comes to you, please don't leave it for the next day. Get up and write down every detail. But sometimes it can play tricks on us and make us completely forget what we thought the night before. So don't trust your ability to remember every detail and immediately write down that very important idea. To avoid the inconvenience of having to get up in the middle of the night, record the idea on your cell phone and then transcribe it, or keep a notebook and pencil very close to your bed, so you can write without having to get up.
Otra sugerencia importante es : Investiga. Si tu historia es una historia de la época de 1850, no puedes escribir lo que se te ocurra, no vas a decir, por ejemplo: “ Y la señorita Rosa subió a su Mercedes Benz y se fue a ver con su prima Cleopatra”. No. Investigar es de sabios y tu historia será muy creíble, realista, tendrá sentido y el lector no perderá su interés. Además, te ahorrarás el mal momento de ser corregido por algún lector brusco, qué no solo busque corregir tu falla sino avergonzarte. Créeme, puede pasar.
Otro tips necesario es: Vigila bien tu ortografía. La gramática y buena ortografía a la hora de escribir un libro es súper importante. Tendrás que empaparte bien de algunas normas gramaticales. Por ejemplo: Qué signos acompañan a los diálogos, dónde va mayúscula y dónde no va y así por el estilo.
Another important suggestion is: Investigate. Another very important tip is: Watch your spelling carefully. Grammar and good spelling when writing a book are super important. You will have to thoroughly understand some grammatical rules. For example: What signs accompany the dialogues, where capital letters are and where they are not, and so on.
Por último, hay más cositas, como : Tomar notas mientras escribes. Esto es algo demasiado importante . Por ejemplo, toma notas de las fechas y cada uno de los nombres que usarás, ( no importa si es un personaje que crees que no volverás a mencionar, por ejemplo, aquel taxista a quien tu personaje detuvo aquella noche de lluvia para poder llegar a ese sitio importante y que por casualidad reveló su nombre) no sabes si necesitarás más adelante hacer uso del personaje que consideraste trivial en un principio. Así que por favor, toma nota de todo. Marca de vehículo, ciudad donde se desarrollan los hechos, si es alérgico a algún medicamento o alimento, etc. Esto es muy relevante. Lo necesitarás a medida que sigas escribiendo y te evitará revisar capítulos anteriores para ver por ejemplo, cuál era la marca del vehículo que usó Carlos cuando pasó por Rosa en su primera cita. Te evitará retroceder y andar buscando en capítulos anteriores ese tipo de detalles.

Finally, there are more little things, like: Taking notes while you write. This is something too important.
