when i think of reflections what comes to mind is pools of still water or glassy lakes, mirrors, large or small, glass windows made opaque by the lighting of the scene and more but reflections can be found literally everywhere there is light and something shiny. now admittedly some reflections are intrinsically more beautiful and interesting than others, such scenic natural settings or dramatic lighting on urban skyscrapers etc but let's not completely overlook the everyday reflections that accompany us throughout our lives.

for example, here is one from our stovetop. i don't recall why this pot of water was where it was, most likely i was making dinner, maybe going to boil some pasta or make some soup. it doesn't really matter but whatever i was doing this reflection was peculiar enough to attract my attention. maybe i was just in a reflective mood and the image caught me in the moment. at any rate, the filter grill for the ventilator is clearly visible, the yellow is the underside of the cabinets and doors, with their shiny polished steel handles. the dark rectangular thing is my phone with which i snapped the shot. the shiny circle is of course the rim of the pot which is a reflection only in the sense that it is reflecting the overhead light .
now if the above shot doesn't cook your meal for you...

...maybe a black and white edit is more to your taste
i wish all reflection hunters a happy 2026
An interesting game with reflexes.
Happy New Year!
