It's time for another Shadow Hunt!
This time, I think I will just add to what I have already shared a couple of weeks back about the latest art exhibit at the Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation, Lobi Lobi by Cameroonian artist, Pascale Marthine Tayou.
Being an art exhibit, it is expectedly lighted well and therefore is a great place to shadow hunt, don't you agree? If you would check this post below, you will see what I am talking about. And this is just the children's section of the exhibit.
This colorful cage, titled HOME SWEET HOME, is one of the few bird cages wrapped in cloth that is displayed at the BoBo Land (children's section) of the exhibit. There were three of them, if I remember correctly.
The lighting made a pretty big and emphasized shadow of the cage. I specifically took the photo with Shadow Hunters in mind, so this is my entry for this week. 😉

48.5 x 38 x 24 cm
The below photo is a part of a big walk-through installation. I was not able to take its title and please don't laugh, I wasn't even able to take what the concept was about. Well, that's going out with kids for you. They cannot stay put in one spot long enough.
I love how the shadows make it look like there are a lot of nails on the walls. The mirrors dramatically multiply them even more!
Below is Tayou's art entitled, Bendskin Cotonou, which is a mix of a bicycle, video screen, and other mixed media. In the background is Fresque Bantu, made of towels sewn together.
I was actually tempted to just focus on the bicycle shadow but the urge to give a bigger picture won over.
The artist uses everyday objects in his art. Below art, called Africonda, uses washcloth, mask, dry hay, and wood. It portrays snakes wrapped around wood. It is a rather big installation standing 195 cm tall and 178 cm in diameter.
The multiple spotlights pointed at it produce big shadows around it.
Finally, here's one from the main gallery - Colorful Calabashes. It is, as fascinating as it is, what is is -- painted calabashes. It is a big piece adorning the wall - 920 x 270 x 50 cm.
You can refer to the cover photo above to have an idea of how big it is.
There is more to the exhibit that we have not explored. Thankfully, it will run until November this year and we still have a lot of chance to come back and check out the rest of the exhibit. I bet there are lots of beautiful shadows again that we can observe apart from the art pieces and I will definitely find time to share them here.
