Let's explore the oldest mosque in the center of Binjai City, My Birthplace

Actually there are many historical buildings in the city of Binjai, my birthplace, a city that has many tribes and is very tolerant in my city. There are many memories in this city, but because the city of Binjai is a small city with a diversity of tribes in it, there are no distinctive buildings in my city, on average the buildings in my city are in the form of modern buildings that are contemporary, if there are only a few that take Malay traditional elements and the percentage is not more than 1 percent.

As I said earlier there are no prominent regional characteristics in my area so the building I will talk about is shaped like a building in general that is not too prominent in its architecture, the yard is not too wide, but this mosque has its own history and charm. This is because the location of this building is very strategic, flanked by the Binjai Mayor's office and the Binjai City People's Representative Council office. Its existence is right next to the building, then in front of the mosque there is a special park for toddlers and children so this mosque is indeed very strategic in terms of its location,

Unlike other buildings or places of worship in my city that are built continuously and are very magnificent. This mosque is just ordinary in terms of architecture, from the front this mosque is supported by several pillars which are then formed like a triangle that is refined with reliefs resembling mosques in the Middle East. However, even so, the form that we see is a form that has been renewed because in fact this mosque is the oldest small mosque in the center of Binjai City, my birthplace.

Then I walked to the side to go to the restroom and saw the shape of the restroom like a house. And indeed this two-story building is intended for the mosque administrator's house on the top floor and on the first floor is intended for the congregation's bathroom, from the outside bathroom wall and the shape of the ceramics that have an old impression even though there have been several changes, but the house on the second floor already shows a house in the form of the 2000s era and the house was indeed only built in recent years.

Go up to the second floor and this is where my surprise lies because many elderly people worship here, but the stairs that are made have a high distance exceeding 30 centimeters, although the steps that are passed are not too many, but because these stairs are very narrow so it is very tiring and requires great care when stepping on these stairs. the shape of the floor is chosen marble with an abstract motif that is already modern.

Some of the outer roofs near the parking lot have a ceiling designed to resemble light blue clouds and this ceiling is made of PVC, then the cloud shape is framed with black PVC again so that the shape of the ceiling used looks like a swimming pool in my opinion.

Overall, the design is not very synchronous and harmonious, this is because there have been many developments in this mosque that were not carried out at once but little by little to cover up the old building that is very old so that it looks like it is now. and this is the oldest mosque in the center of my city. Is there an oldest building that is still functioning and well maintained, my friend?
Thank you for reading my post, and greetings from Tomi diwirja, Indonesia

Very nice place.. 👍👍

It's a pleasure to meet the oldest mosque from your birthplace @tomidiwirja. Despite its ordinary architecture and with oversized steps to the second level, what part of this building fascinates you the most - if any?

The interesting part, in my opinion, is the large open space, so for the hot climate in my city, it will save on the use of air conditioning.

Exactly, the open space is a great example of passive cooling especially in tropical countries like Indonesia. ☺️

yes that's right @archmoments. thank you

Hello @tomidiwirja, fascinating mosque! I'm glad it's still standing up to this day, a testament to stability and maintenance. Any idea how old this heritage landmark is exactly?

Since I was little, this mosque has been standing. I don't know the year it was made. So this mosque must be older than me.😀

Alright, that makes sense. 😁

I loved the interior design, everything looks clean and bright, the colour of the columns is beautiful, the pink and brown match very well.

Cheers!

Even so, I say this mosque still looks like an old building, there are many modern mosques that are better. Thank you @belkyscabrera
