Design of Pos Bloc as a Public Space for Literacy

I remember one of the important people once said that if people don't care about literacy anymore, it means that the country is in danger, so, literacy awareness indicates that my country is fine.

This time, I will visit a place that is often used as a place for literacy events in Central Jakarta.

POS BLOC

This building used to be a philatelic building which is now converted into a literacy centre like M Bloc in Blok M (I've written about M Bloc before in this community too). Again and again, the interior design of this building has a lot of uniqueness that we will explore one by one.

Firstly, of course we can see the facade which is very thick with the old style of the Dutch colonial era, indeed this is also one of their relics. Once inside, visitors can see a series of iron that becomes a framework to support the roof looks very sturdy. This is typical for ancient buildings. Usually this modelling framework lasts for hundreds of years.

This main room is used as the main room if there are talk shows or seminars and the like. In the middle of the room is a large LCD screen and in front of it are many colourful chairs that can be moved. There is also tribune-style seating. This room is certainly enough to accommodate hundreds of people. Maybe a hundred is also enough. Usually events held here use reservations for an audience quota of one hundred people.

On the top floor of the stands, there are also bookshelves and books that can be read while relaxing.

For the room on the left sap, there is a very famous bookstore: Patjar Merah. Apart from being a bookstore, Patjar Merah is also a kind of sustainability programme that leads to literacy events from city to city. This sapp kitri is designed with a lower roof than the main room. In addition to the bookstore, there are also several food tenants and a very cosy open seating area.

Other than that, murals. I saw a mural in the hallway on the left wing. This complex mural really caught my attention.

After that, I went back to the main room and went outside. I didn't have time to explore the right wing because the sky was getting cloudy and I had to rush home. However, you have to see that the seating on the forecourt of Pos Bloc is unique, right? The striking colours and cool designs make the atmosphere more cathcy. What do you think? Is there any part of Pos Bloc that you are interested in? Please let me know.

Hi, I am the child of the universe, I like to read books with various genres. I was born in the city of batik but can't draw batik yet. I want to be a novelist, but my works are only short poems that are included in anthology books.

Reading should be encouraged, it seems, now children prefer playing games rather than reading, and the building looks very sturdy and nice
