Good morning, dear hives and friends of #Architectureanddesign . Today I want to share with you an architectural work that captivated me during my visit to the cozy town of Pampatar, in the municipality Maneiro of Nueva Esparta state, in the beautiful Margarita Island.
Buenos días, queridos hives y amigos de #Architectureanddesign . Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes una obra arquitectónica que me cautivó durante mi visita a la acogedora ciudad de Pampatar, en el municipio Maneiro del estado Nueva Esparta, en la hermosa Isla Margarita.
Let me begin by sharing a bit of personal context, which today touched the heartstrings of pleasant memories. My son graduated from high school in this municipality a few years ago, and his time as a student here was peaceful and full of unforgettable memories. As is customary in Venezuela, the graduating class was blessed in the Church of "Cristo del Buen Viaje". Therefore, this church also has a special place in our hearts.
Pampatar, with its colonial style houses, is a place I love. Its cobblestone streets and historic buildings transport us to another era. One of the most picturesque streets is Antonio Diaz, through which we walked, and we could appreciate the beautiful views of the sea, until we reached our destination: the majestic Church of "Cristo del Buen Viaje" (Christ of the Good Journey).
Permítanme comenzar compartiendo un poco de contexto personal, que hoy nos tocó las fibras de agradables recuerdos. Mi hijo se graduó de bachiller en este municipio hace algunos años, y su etapa de estudiante aquí fue tranquila y llena de recuerdos inolvidables. Como es costumbre en Venezuela, la promoción de graduados fue bendecida en la Iglesia del "Cristo del Buen Viaje". Por lo tanto, esta iglesia también tiene un lugar especial en nuestros corazones.
Pampatar, con sus casas al estilo colonial, es un lugar que me encanta. Sus calles empedradas y sus edificaciones históricas nos transportan a otra época. Una de las calles más pintorescas es Antonio Díaz, por la que recorrimos, y pudimos apreciar las hermosas vistas al mar, hasta llegar a nuestro destino: la majestuosa Iglesia del "Cristo del Buen Viaje".
This church is located in front of Joaquín Maneiro Avenue, right next to the Municipal Mayor's Office. Its imposing structure, well cared for and with arched windows, evokes the elegance of colonial architecture. The concrete balustrade balconies add a touch of beauty and allow a view of the large plaza that extends in front of the entrance.
Esta iglesia se encuentra frente a la avenida Joaquín Maneiro, justo al lado de la Alcaldía municipal. Su imponente estructura, bien cuidada y con ventanas en forma de arco, evoca la elegancia de la arquitectura colonial. Los balcones de balaustradas de hormigón añaden un toque de belleza y permiten contemplar la gran plazoleta que se extiende ante la entrada.
The small square, adorned with designs on the ground that simulate colorful flowers, radiates joy. Two small cannons flank the entrance, reminding us of its history and connection to the community. Here, parishioners wait patiently as the church opens its doors.
La plazoleta, adornada con diseños en el suelo que simulan flores de colores, irradia alegría. Dos pequeños cañones flanquean la entrada, recordándonos su historia y su conexión con la comunidad. Aquí, los feligreses esperan pacientemente mientras la iglesia abre sus puertas.
Although I could not enter due to the schedule, I can describe its façade. The Church of the "Cristo del Buen Viaje" presents a characteristic colonial style. In front, two triangle-shaped planters house beautiful plants that contrast with the bells and tombstones that adorn the entrance, also an artistic work of the author Juancarlo Cabruja, Ituarte called, "sense of life".
Aunque no pude ingresar debido al horario, puedo describir su fachada. La Iglesia del "Cristo del Buen Viaje" presenta un estilo colonial característico. En su frente, dos jardineras en forma de triángulo albergan hermosas plantas que contrastan con las campanas y las lápidas que adornan la entrada, también una obra artística del autor Juancarlo Cabruja, Ituarte llamada, “sentido de la vida”.
The main door, of thick wood carved in the form of an arch, is imposing. On either side, two large columns support a small cross in the center. Crossing the three stone steps leading to the entrance, one feels transported to another era.
La puerta principal, de gruesa madera tallada en forma de arco, es imponente. A ambos lados, dos grandes columnas sostienen una pequeña cruz en el centro. Al atravesar los tres escalones de piedra que conducen a la entrada, uno se siente transportado a otra época.
The side turret houses two bells that announce the opening of the church. The tiled roof, with a cross at its highest point, completes the picture. On the other side of the church, an immense small square is also beautifully decorated.
La torreta lateral alberga dos campanas que anuncian la apertura de la iglesia. El techo de tejas, con una cruz en su punto más elevado, completa la imagen. Al otro lado de la iglesia, una inmensa plazoleta también está bellamente adornada.
I was surprised to see how the sidewalk and the small squares share the same decoration on their floors. And the original lamps, which look like large olive jars, line the street, illuminating the night with their unique charm.
Me sorprendió ver cómo la acera y las plazoletas comparten la misma decoración en sus pisos. Y las lámparas originales, que parecen frascos grandes de aceitunas, bordean la calle, iluminando la noche con su encanto singular.
In short, the Church of "Cristo del Buen Viaje" is an architectural treasure located in the heart of Pampatar. Its colonial style, history and beauty make it a special place for all who visit it. Hello @taniagonzalez, I can always say that this Catholic Church, where your son's graduation was awarded, is always in your memory. It has a colonial feel and the garden setting is very complimentary.
The jardo, of the church, is small but very beautiful.
It is a pity not to have been able to show you the interior, because I remember that it was very beautiful. I have to come back, because this church, brings back nice memories in my family.
