Hello everyone,
I would like to make my first post in this community about some of the buildings. These different architectural design buildings are all about textiles. Some of the buildings are textile factories and some are shops for textile products. This is one of the most complex districts of Istanbul in Merter. I can say that I have never seen a house here. Everywhere is a factory or company.
Herkese merhabalar,
Her yer iş yeri.
You can see what I mean when you look at the photos. Yes, store windows look stylish, but don't be fooled by these images. I don't like the fact that the buildings are so close to each other. The population of #Istanbul is approximately 16 million. Maybe more. Many people meet a significant part of their clothing needs from here. The workers here work hard. I witnessed it because I can see it every day.
Ben buna şahidim çünkü her gün görebiliyorum.
In addition to all these, the architectural design of the buildings is not beautiful. The exteriors of some huge buildings are eye-catching, but that's it. For example, it is impossible to find a green area here. The architecture of this district did not comply with the #environmental planning. This is very clear from the photos. That's why I don't like the architecture of these non-environmentally friendly buildings. Their sole focus is producing and selling.
Have you heard of the #EuropeanGreenDeal? According to this agreement, many factories will need to reduce their #carbon #emissions. In other words, it is tried to encourage production that does not pollute the environment more. But it seems difficult for the buildings in these photos to fit into this consensus.
European countries are legalizing the carbon tax with this agreement. If countries exporting to #Europe do not comply with the necessary rules, they may have to pay this #tax. They may not even be able to #export. It is obvious why Europe enacted this law. They want to produce their needs in-house instead of importing them from abroad. That's why it tries to close this road to the countries it imports.
Considering that Europe is the biggest export market, Turkey needs to realize some targets. When I think of these buildings that are focused only on production and sales, this goal seems difficult to achieve.
When constructing a building, it is not right to focus only on its cost. If you want to comply with international standards, you have to comply with more. Three things to consider next: energy efficiency, recycling and carbon emissions. These three concepts are important not only for architectural structures but also for many areas. We will hear more about such concepts in the coming years. Every country working with European Union countries will have to pay attention to some rules.
I would like to briefly explain the concepts of efficiency, recycling and carbon emissions, which have an important place in the energy sector, for architectural structures. For example, let's say we are building a building. If we want to be efficient, we need to focus on the production process of the materials we buy for construction. We must check whether the production processes of these materials are compatible with the environment. We should check whether recycling materials were used while producing these products. And most importantly, we have to know the carbon footprint data of these materials. If we do not do this, we will have difficulty in exporting to Europe in the future.
Not only Europe but also America is paying attention to the Green Deal issue. The #NewGreenDeal is on the agenda, too. There is no problem except that the countries producing the most oil or cement are in the USA :) Like these agreements do not make sense to me. For example, some big oil companies have changed their logos to green and they say "we are environmentalist". With this type of reconciliation, they just want to get more taxes. Making environmentally friendly buildings is the latest plan :)

Hello @oneplanet. We are truly delighted to have you in our beloved community. We look forward to more amazing publications from you soon. All the best always! 😀
I could imagine the intense suffocation you felt in the presence of these extremely crowded buildings in the Merter district of Istanbul. For environmental advocates like us, it's simply unacceptable not to enjoy patches of green environments like trees, shrubs, flowers, plants, etc. in highly commercialized zones like these. Having said that, it seems that the majority of the establishments there are only after the main bottom line: money. It's a pity that the poor unsustainable conditions prevalent in that location would eventually deteriorate the surrounding population's health standards. Your government authorities must do something about this before it's too late.
Hello @oneplanet, a warm welcome to the Architecture+Design Community! Thank you for this interesting publication - indeed a wake-up call inviting all citizens to be stewards of our one and only planet. 😊
Thank you very much for your comment🙏 Im so happy when I read your comment. Turkey have signed the #Paris #Climate #Agreement in this year. For that reason, government and citizens have to protect the environment. Especially we have to decrease the #coal consumption. For more sustainable world we have to work together ✌️
With great pleasure @oneplanet. I'm truly glad Turkey has already pushed for the immediate implementation of positive measures for the care, rehabilitation, and development of our planet's natural resources. Again, as promising as these environmental objectives may seem on paper, "actions still speak louder than words" at the end of the day! I look forward to more awesome publications about architecture and design from you soon. Have fun! 😊
I will share lots of posts about architecture and design. I love this community✌️
Same, I dont like buildings or stores are so close too each other, make me feel stress and exhausted to just looking at it.
I am trying to buy clothes that are environmental friendly too because I dont want my clothes release micro- plastics to the seas
I agree with you totally🌸 Also I want to share with you an interesting news about #plastics from The Guardian
Omg they found it in 80% of those who tested. It is a big number. At first I thought may be just a small percentage of people got it but 80% means almost everyone.
Yes it is terrible result and this is the begining. For example ten years later what will we see🤦🏻♀️
These shops are really close to each other, here in our country, I can only see shops spacing like this inside a shopping mall or not even that close.
I need to see a tree between these buildings. I hope one day I will see 🌲 🌳 Thank you for your comment.
You're welcome (^_^)
