La dolce vita 🇮🇹 Elegant, fancy Italian restaurant Lupo and its signature dish, flower-shaped fiori pasta, stuffed with ricotta, parmesan, mascarpone and oregano, with burnt butter and hazelnuts

Lupo is a restaurant where you can enjoy both visually - charmingly designed interior, and by taste - delicious, sophisticated dishes. Even the entrance to the restaurant looks unusual and modern. The columns at the entrance are decorated with thin black and white stripes, and the entrance door is opened with an unusual round handle.

Lupo to restauracja, w której można delektować się zarówno wizualnie - gustownie zaprojektowanym wnętrzem, jak i smakowo, pysznymi, wyszukanymi potrawami. Nawet wejście do restauracji wygląda nietypowo i nowocześnie. Kolumny przy wejściu zdobią cienkie biało-czarne paski, a na drzwi wejściowe otwiera się nietypową okrągłą klamką.

If you want to sit at your favorite table, it is better to make a reservation in advance. I came to Lupo with a friend and the waiter gave us a small selection of places to sit. Even though there were a lot of empty seats, so that's not nice. Eventually we sat by the window. I often go to restaurants, but I rarely see people there dressed very formally, and in Lupo many people were elegantly dressed, in a suit or an evening dress. At every step you could feel that this was a sophisticated restaurant.

Jeśli chcemy usiąść przy ulubionym stoliku lepiej jest wcześniej zrobić rezerwację. Do Lupo przyszłam z koleżanką i kelner dał nam niewielki wybór miejsc do siedzenia. Mimo, że było mnóstwo pustych miejsc, więc złapał u mnie minusa. Ostatecznie usiadłyśmy przy oknie. Często chodzę do restauracji, ale rzadko widzę tam ludzi ubranych bardzo uroczyście, a w Lupo wiele osób było ubranych wykwintnie, w garnitur, albo sukienkę wieczorową. Na każdym kroku dało się odczuć, że to elegancka restauracja.

I was surprised by the carved heads on one of the tables. They looked so strange, creepy 😲 However, I later found out that these head sculptures were the famous Moor's heads. These are elegant ceramic vases from Sicily.

This is related to the legend of a woman who fell in love with a man named Moor, but when she learned that he would soon leave, a green monster entered her and she killed her lover - Moor, then made a vase from his head and planted Basil in it. The basil grew fueled by the woman's tears, and the neighbors out of jealousy created similar vases with human heads (ceraminc ones). And now such vases are a very popular souvenir from Sicily. Zaskoczyły mnie znajdujące się na jednym ze stołów rzeźbione głowy. Wyglądały jakoś tak dziwnie, creepy 😲 Dowiedziałam się jednak później,że te rzeźby głów to słynne Moor's heads. Czyli pochodzące z Sycylii, eleganckie ceramiczne wazy.

Wiąże się to z legendą o kobiecie, która zakochała się w mężczyźnie o imieniu Moor, ale dowiedziała się, że on wkrótce wyjedzie, wniknął w nią zielony potwór i zabiła Moora - swojego kochanka, a następnie zrobiła z jego głowy wazę i zasadziła w niej Bazylię. Bazylia rosła zasilana łzami kobiety, a sąsiedzi z zazdrości tworzyli podobne wazy z ludzkimi głowami (tylko, że z ceramiki). I teraz takie wazy są bardzo popularną pamiątką z Sycylii. Przyznam,że ta historia jest tak dziwna jak te wazy. Tu podaję źródło i możecie poczytać więcej na ten temat.

Look at the tables and furniture in the back. How much white there is, how clean it is. How comfortable are the cushion backrests. And on each table there is a small lamp. At first I didn't know why they were placed this way, but I soon found out the answer. When it got darker, the main light sources were turned off and thanks to these small lamps on the tables it became romantic.

Spójrzcie na stoły i meble z tyłu. Jak dużo tu bieli, jak jest czysto. Jak wygodne są oparcia z poduszek. I na każdym stoliku znajduje się mała lampka. Na początku nie wiedziałam po co one są tak ulokowane, jednak wkrótce poznałem odpowiedź. Gdy zrobiło się ciemniej w lokalu zostały wyłączone główne źródła światła i dzięki tym małym lampom na stolikach zrobiło się romantycznie.

And here is the place where, in front of customers, you can see how the pasta is being made. I saw a restaurant employee first flatten it in a special vice and then create her favorite dishes from it. Including mine - with ravioli in the shape of a flower.

A tu jest miejsce, gdzie na oczach klientów,gdzie widać jak tworzy się makaron. Widziałam jak pracownica restauracji najpierw go mocno spłaszczała w specjalnym imadle, a później tworzyła z niego ulubione potrawy. W tym tą moją - z ravioli w kształcie kwiatka.

*After some time, the waiter came and gave us the menu. Plain, paper, but with huge prices. My 7 dumplings were supposed to cost PLN 42, but I made a mistake and bought them in advance. A photo session was taking place at the next table. A woman took out her own lamp and other accessories and kept taking pictures of the food with them.

Po pewnym czasie przyszedł kelner i dał nam menu. Zwykłe, papierowe, za to z gigantycznymi cenami. Moje 7 pierożków miało kosztować 42 złote, ale bardzo się wcześniej zastawiłam i je kupiłam. Przy stoliku obok odbywała się sesja fotograficzna. Jakaś kobieta wyjęła własną lampę oraz inne akcesoria i co chwila robiła nimi zdjęcia potraw.

One of the most popular dishes at Lupo restaurant are flower-shaped ravioli. They have a cheese filling with ricotta, parmesan and mascarpone and oregano. They are served with burnt butter and hazelnuts. I've seen this dish many times on social media and I was very interested, so I decided to order it. There were few dumplings for a dish costing PLN 42 and they were swimming in butter, like in soup. However, they tasted amazing, delicious, wonderful. Although I didn't feel full from this dish, if going to a restaurant is not just to eat, but also to try new, unusual flavors, I can consider this culinary choice a very successful one.

Jednym z najpopularniejszych dań w restauracji Lupo są pierożki ravioli w kształcie kwiatu. Mają serowe nadzienie z ricottą, parmezanem i mascarpone oraz z przyprawą oregano. Podawane są z palonym masłem i orzechami laskowymi. Widziałam to danie nieraz w mediach społecznościowych i bardzo mnie zainteresowało, więc postanowiłam je zamówić. Pierożków było mało jak na danie za 42 złote i pływały w maśle, jak w zupie. Aczkolwiek smakowały obłędnie, przepysznie, cudownie. Wprawdzie nie czułam się jakoś najedzona tym daniem, ale jeśli wyjście do restauracji ma nie służyć tylko temu, żeby się najeść, ale próbowaniu nowych, niespotykanych smaków, to mogę uznać ten kulinarny wybór za bardzo udany.

I was at Lupo with my friend and she ordered ice cream. After serving, they looked like a snow-covered mountain 😉 And it was parmesan. The ice cream was raspberry flavored and served with grated parmesan cheese. The ice cream looked like something out of a fairy tale, but parmesan and something sweet is a very unusual combination. My friend didn't like it much.

Byłam w Lupo z moją koleżanką i ona zamówiła lody. Po podaniu wyglądały jak góra pokryta śniegiem 😉 A to był parmezan. Lody miał smak malinowy i były podawane ze startym parmezanem. Lody wyglądały jak z bajki, ale parmezan i coś słodkiego to bardzo nietypowe połączenie. Koleżance tak sobie smakowały.

I ate my dumplings quickly and felt unsatisfied. To be full, I would have to eat many more dumplings than in this pub (if they serve them there), preferably a dozen or so.

Moje pierożki szybko zjadłam i czułam niedosyt. Żeby się najeść musiałabym zjeść o wiele więcej pierogów niż w tym pubie (jeśli je tam serwują), najlepiej kilkanaście.
