The Cathedral of Burgos, Spain

A cordial greeting to all the architecture and design lovers in Hive! It is a pleasure for me to stop by this community and share some of my appreciations of imposing places I have known and I always share about catholic churches, either here in Venezuela or in some city I had the opportunity to visit, as is the case today, where I will share with you a little of my experience inside the Cathedral of Burgos, in Castilla y Leon, Spain. It was a bit of an eventful visit in a day full of many attendees, so there are few good pictures that I could capture, but I wanted to share them with you...

Like the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela that I shared in my previous post, the Cathedral of Burgos is of gothic architecture, easy to recognize from afar, and in fact it gave me the impression that many things in the town are too, even its climate, its vegetation and even the people, at least that is the impression it gave me. That day it was very windy in Burgos and the cold was extreme, that's why I don't have so many photos of the facade, but my surprise was to enter and discover that it was colder inside than outside. The lighting was very low, although there were many lamps. Inside it felt like a big medieval castle.

Despite being dark, I was pleased to discover that the white and light grays really stand out in the place, ceiling, walls and even the floor, I think it would look darker otherwise. There are many stone statues that play with the shadows and most of the doors are black with many details that can only be appreciated up close. Another color that can be seen in every corner is gold, especially in the altar, railings and crosses and even in the organ in the main aisle.

This place that you can see in the picture above is called Choir, and indeed there is a small stage, as for a choir of maximum 10 people, so it was not an option for us. It was in the middle of one of the central aisles, it has two beautiful chandeliers that are not seen in any other part of the cathedral and the color of its detailed and embossed walls is dark wood. This area was closed, so I appreciated it from the outside and never knew what that glass coffin you can see in the first photo meant, but it all looked gothic and charming.

The art of the Burgos Cathedral is very impressive, and not only for its great quality, but also for its quantity. There are sculptures and symbolism in every corner of it, some in color and others simply in stone color. I did not have the privilege of visiting every corner, but at least you can appreciate these works that surrounded the courtyard of the Lower Cloister, an area that not everyone gets to see on a normal day. These that you can see in the five photos above were my favorites. I hope you liked this short but representative photographic tour and thank you very much for reading...

very nice, the color is also natural because brown is chosen. This building looks like it is made of clay because of its color.

This is a very beautiful building and has religious value. What I want to ask is why is it so much colder indoors than outside? Is there no sunlight coming in? @jesuslnrs
