Architectural icon: Cathedral of Our Lady of Carmen

In the colonial helmet of the city of Maturin, you can see in the distance some domes that belong to an architectural and historical icon, which emphasizes the patrimonial identity of the city. Its name is the "Cathedral of Our Lady of Carmen " and it is an architectural icon, tourist and of great reference for the citizens of Maturin.

En el casco colonial de la ciudad de Maturin, se puede divisar a lo lejos unas cupulas que pertenecen a un icono arquitectonico e historico, que acentua la identidad patrimonial de la ciudad, Su nombre es la **"Catedral de Nuestra Señora del Carmen "** y es un icono arquitectonico, turistico y de gran referencia para de los ciudadanos de Maturin.

Due to its great height it can be seen from a great part of the city, and it is one of the largest churches in all of eastern Venezuela.

It is located in the liberator walk of the Bolivar Avenue of Maturin, one of the most central and visited areas by the people of Maturin.

Por su gran altura se divisa desde gran parte de la ciudad , y es una de las iglesias más grandes de todo el oriente venezolano.

Se encuentra ubicada en el paseo libertador de la avenida Bolivar de Maturin, una de las zonas más centricas y visitadas por el maturinense.

It is customary to see the locals strolling around the area, since this is one of the busiest places in the city, due to its facilities and surroundings that allow a comfortable stay for those who visit it.

Es costumbre ver a los lugareños pasearse por la zona , ya que este es uno de los sitios más concurridos de la ciudad , debido a que sus instalaciones y alrededores permiten la comoda estadia de los que la visitan .

Its construction is relatively recent, it began to build around 1959, where the first stone was placed, to start this spiritual enclosure, giving joy to the Catholic parishioners with the hope of building a modern cathedral, adapted to the development that for those years was taking the city, both private and state entities gave significant contributions for the construction of this banner.

Su construcción es relativamente reciente , se comenzo a construir alrededor del año 1959, donde se coloca la primera piedra , para comenzar de este recinto espiritual , dando alegria a los feligreses catolicos con la esperanza de la construccion de un moderna catedral, adaptada al desarrollo que para esos años iba tomando la ciudad , entes tanto privados como del estado dieron aportes significativos para la construcción de este estandarte.

It finished its construction almost 22 years later in 1981, bringing joy and reaffirming the faith of the parishioners and their devotion to the Virgin of Carmen.

Termino su contrucción casi 22 años después en el año 1981 , brindando alegria y reafirmando la fe de los feligreses y su devoción por la virgen del Carmen.

Its construction was supervised at the time by the Ministry of Public Works, and the Romanesque style of the work was designed by the German architect Ernesto Prall.

Its facade is extremely high with two side towers of about 50 meters, and has clocks in the dome of each tower, internally each of it has an elevator that allows the ease of reaching them, throughout the work highlight the stained glass windows with religious designs, biblical scenes that are part of the beauty of this enclosure.

Surrounding it you can feel the majesty of this place, has large carved wooden doors, and ornaments throughout its design.

Su fachada es sumamente alta con dos torres laterales de alrededor de 50 metros , y tiene relojes en la cupula de cada torre , internamente cada una de ella tiene un ascensor que permite la facilidad de llegar a ellas , en toda la obra resaltan los vitrales con diseños religiosos, de escenas biblicas que son parte de la belleza de este recinto.

Al rodearla puedes sentir la majestuosidad de este lugar , tiene grandes puertas de madera tallada , y ornamentos en todo su diseño.

Several remodeling works were carried out consisting of the installation of air conditioners, main doors with sensors and a lighting system with a play of lights of various colors, which can be enjoyed at night and the overflight of the territory, it is a beauty at night, the play of lights gives the feeling of floating. It is the best illuminated religious temple in the country.

En el año 2007 ,se realizo una propuesta de innovación a la ciudad , impregnando a la obra de modernidad , con la finalidad de atraer el turismo y permitirle al ciudadano tener espacios más amenos para el conpartir en familia.

Se realizaron diversos trabajos de remodelación que consistian en la instalación de aires acondicionados , puertas principales con sensores y un sistema de iluminación con juego de luces de varios colores , que se pueden disfrutar en las noches y el sobrevuelo del territorio , es una belleza de noche, el juego de luces le da la sensación de estar flotando . Es el templo religioso mejor iluminado del país.
