The Metal Compliance team is growing within an exciting startup environment. You will have the opportunity to take a hands-on approach to build a scalable risk-based AML Compliance program and make a tangible difference. The Metal Compliance team focuses on helping our business comply with current financial regulations. Comprised of master jugglers, this team balances Metal’s legal and compliance requirements with the dynamic needs of our valued customers and the Missions and Values of our company. As part of this team, you will proactively identify gaps in existing policy frameworks, operational deficiencies and find innovative solutions. You will assist in developing efficient compliance systems and work with the marketing, customer support, product, and business development teams to implement these across the organization. You are thorough in all you do and see to it that as Metal pursues its next big strategy we will be compliant and have established best practices at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Identifying and reporting suspicious activity to the relevant authorities
  • Reviewing daily escalations on transaction monitoring
  • Conducting independent investigations
  • Drafting Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) based on reviews related to system generated alerts as well as internal and external referrals
  • Assisting in compliance cross-functional initiatives to continuously enhance our processes, while balancing the need to support an ever-growing business and staying within our regulatory compliance obligations
  • You will develop as an SME (subject matter expert) and will receive intra-departmental queries that require your knowledge and expertise in the application of the BSA and AML/CFT standards as they relate to online payments and P2P transactions as it applies to MSB and MTL licenses
  • Assisting the Director in providing technical regulatory guidance on AML & OFAC Sanctions compliance subjects to the Enterprise
  • Prior experience working on various AML and OFAC Sanctions remediation projects, designing customer due diligence programs, working on transaction monitoring system implementation and rule design, developing documentation for transaction monitoring and watchlist screening, and assisting in closing internal & external audit findings
  • Ensures all SARS/CTRS, OFAC and 314(a) checks are completed by the deadline
  • Be responsible for monitoring the AML software alerts, performing enhanced due diligence on customers, and performing a variety of duties to assist with compliance
  • Review any AML/OFAC alerts, suspicious blockchain patterns and conduct appropriate investigations and make a determination on the disposition of the alert
  • Become a subject matter expert in the operation of the AML system and controls
  • Assist in providing reports and documentation for SARs, Audits, Regulatory Exams and management
  • Work closely with the Director in identifying and reporting any criminal activity
  • Ensure compliance by the Company, its subsidiaries, and vendors with the BSA/AML/Sanctions Compliance Program
  • Maintain a working understanding of applicable laws and regulations to ensure compliance
  • Perform daily review, monitoring, and analysis of various reports, logs, and transaction data to identify trends, unusual activity, and monitor large currency activity; determine if transactions are suspicious in nature such as kiting, significant changes in balances, cash structuring in deposits, loan payments, and certificates of deposit purchases, wire or ACH transfers, monetary instrument sales, new account openings, etc
  • Experience with various international regulatory payments laws, including Money Transmitter/Money Service Business regulations
  • Exposure to or an interest in learning regulatory requirements involving eMoney , Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Sanctions (e.g., OFAC) regulations
  • Must have a minimum of 4+ years relevant work experience
