Dish or Food, anyway you call it, is life. So, it's beyond the nomenclature but gives life to people. The benefit of eating good food cannot be underestimated. Good dish or food add nutrient to the body and nourish the body for better growth. Good food or Dish brings about good health to the body and that's why we have different classes, such as protein, carbohydrates, minerals, vitamins, water and so on. All these classes of food have their own benefit and nutrient added to the body.
Back to this week prompt. I love to eat good dish and there's many dishes I can lay claim to of being my favourite, but out of these my favorite dishes, one is so special to me and that one dish that is so special to me is ..., beans and plantain. This my favourite food is a kind of food I cherish and love so much and this is because of the nutrient both adds to the body, for beans, it add protein to the body, which means beans is proteinous. Also, nutrient like fibre, minerals and vitamins are all embedded in beans, so, while eating beans, all these nutrients are expected to be deposited in the body. So, congratulations to the lovers of beans.
What of fried plantain? Fried plantain is another dish that add more nutrient to the body. Such nutrient ranges from potassium to fibre, vitamins C and B6 and antioxidants. All these nutrients mentioned are very good and beneficial to the body system. But with all these nutrients, one must be careful in taking it accordingly and this is because to much of everything is bad.
So, my love for fried plantain and beans stems from the fact that, a friend of mine who is fond of taking these dishes together taught me how to eat and love it. I got to eat and love this food in the year 2020 during the covid19 pandemic.
During these time, I left my base at Osogbo to Ibadan both in the south western part of Nigeria. On getting to Ibadan, there's no place to stay, so, I decided to be staying with a friend of mine Oluseun by name who loves eating these dishes together. So, ab initio, I don't really like eating fried plantain and beans, but with time, I adjusted to my friend taste and started eating the dish. So, as time was passing by, I realized I can't do without eating these dish 3 times a week and that was where my love for the good started.
After, leaving my friends place to rent my own apartment, i could not desist and resist my appetite to eating fried plantain and beans, so, on a particular day, I went to the market to get a pot called pressure pot. This pressure pot is meant for cooking beans and it cooks beans faster than the ordinary pot. So after I have gotten the pressure pot, cooking beans to me was made easy.
Though, to prepare beans and fried plantain was not something I like and maybe that was why I didn't really like it before now. But due to my love for fried plantain and beans , I used to sacrifice my time in preparing this lovely meal.
Even, because of my love for fried plantain and beans, I decided to plant plantain suckers in our compound, the suckers are growing already and very soon, I will not have to buy
How do I prepare the meal? The first thing is to buy beans, take it home, pick it, wash it and put it inside the pot, the pressure pot will be more advisable to use. Also, after that, you add water and onions to it and cover, you then put on fire and allow to cook and get soft before adding your grinded pepper to it. After that you leave for minutes and add palm oil to it. Although, some don't like it like that, some prefer frying the stew to be used. But I like it like everything cooked together.
As for the plantain, you buy it, take it home, remove the cover and slice it into different sizes of yours afterwards, you put ur vegetable or groundnut oil on fire to fry the plantain. Some even use palm oil to fry, anyway you want it, just cook a delicious meal. Then the nutritious meal is ready for eating. Hmmm! Eating my delicious beans with fried plantain makes me fresh and healthy.
So, my love for this dishes has made both my favourite that I can't joke with. Well this meal to me is more of African than any other places. Well, that's my own opinion though. But notwithstanding. I love it
