Discipline Versus Motivation

What if I told you motivation is the key to success? Would you believe that?

Motivation and Discipline have their own share of turning our life. You get motivated at some point but what propels you to success is discipline.

Have you ever thought of living your life and at the end you don't get fulfilled? This question will be answered by our advanced mummies and daddies.

I happened to have one who feels she should have made a good decision back then while she was younger or made things right this way.

There is something more precious than money is time, you can't get it back, it moves without waiting for no one. It's either you're working ahead of it or behind.

Have you ever asked yourself? Why are some people rich while others are poor?

Is it because they are not hardworking enough? Or they are not doing enough. Are you going to tell me a wheelbarrow pusher is not hardworking?

I didn't mean to deviate but then what makes you wake up every morning to dress up for work or for school. What are your goals?

Good life!

Everyone wants a good life but not everyone gets to have it. Permit me to use this proverb “The way you make your bed so shall you lie on it”

Dressing up every morning heading to work, stuck in hours of traffic is not driven by motivation but the satisfaction of having something on your table to eat. Bill staring at you, children's school fees, house rent, utility bills.

What motivates you to work is the ability to live off your bills

You might say I have older siblings who will support me. You are free to beg but how long will you have to keep up with the act? It will get to a point, everyone gets tired of you. You become boredom.

But come to think of it, is there any joy in being idle? It is so frustrating and painful. Think about it, the world is leaving you behind.

Motivation comes in handy, we all get motivated at some point to do something, to bring out the best in us and you find yourself saying “Yes, I will meet up this target” but end up doing nothing at all, you might actually climb the ladder but get stuck halfway along the line.

Discipline as simple as it sounds is so difficult to keep up and that's what differentiate successful people from unsuccessful ones. The small task, you can't do and you feel is a big deal. It usually comes this way “I will do it tomorrow” but that tomorrow never comes.

If you wait till you feel like doing it, that day might never come. You don't have to chock yourself up with work, get burned out and even hate what you do at the end.

Let me share some great tips. At the beginning of this year, we all wrote down our goals and things we want to achieve.

Write down your monthly goals then reduce them to weekly goals and then we talk about daily goals. Those chunks of tasks we do each day without feeling burned out as long as you account for it. You know how long you can go and then force yourself to do them each day. If it's so difficult then have an accountability partner who will keep you on track.

Keep growing, routing for you!
