A Christmas To Remember
Christmas is a beautiful period of time, the love people share with one another through exchange of gifts, food and others, the weather, the scent in the air, the joy on people's faces, the good outfits and different mind blowing events that take place during this period makes it memorable.
I have had the privilege to celebrate Christmas for over two decades now, truth be told, every Christmas comes with something special for every individual. To some it might be the love they experience from their loved ones, to some it might be the gifts they received, to some it might be the new clothes, and to some it might even be the impact they made in someone's life during the season.
I have celebrated quite a number of Christmases, and honestly, each of them was memorable, though some came with challenges but I scaled through. Life is a teacher, whether in good or bad moments, it leaves a lesson for us to become a better version of ourselves.
I don't want to say I have a favorite Christmas experience just yet, reasons being that there are still more Christmas ahead and I have celebrated only but a pinch of the whole package.
I might say this or that is my favorite, but then I encounter another that is far better than it. Therefore, the issue of a favorite Christmas experience for me is inconclusive for now.
However, so far one of the Christmas experiences that stood out for me happened in the year 2020.
I was privileged to travel out to Plateau state to celebrate with my elder sister and her family. That wasn't the first time for me going to Jos but it was something I had been looking forward to because it was my first time going during the cold season.
I heard stories of how the harmattan wind makes an audible sound even during the day and how people wore winter clothes all day. I wanted to see those things for myself and finally the opportunity came.
On Christmas day, my inlaw took me and his family to the zoo and we had so much fun. That day was a day I wished to capture and keep in my archives for future reference.
For the very first time in my life, I saw some of the wild animals I had only seen on television. I saw a lion, python, elephant, tiger and porcupine live.
My desire to meet with some of those creatures was satisfied that day. We later went shopping but the event that really made my Christmas day fun was the zoo visitation. They made one of my long-time dreams come true.
When I returned to my place in Nasarawa, I kept talking about the experience all through until my friends and family wished they were there as well.
In conclusion, the most important thing is being happy, regardless of where we visited or where we didn't, regardless of how much we spent or not, If we are happy and we celebrated the event in the right way, then that Christmas was the best.
