I hope you are enjoying your weekend and that your day is as lovely as mine has been. Today I want to share with you an experience that, although simple, was full of those little details that make it very enjoyable and beautiful.
My day began with the delicious aroma of coffee that gently woke me up. I usually get up early every day, either out of habit or because of work responsibilities, but this morning was different. The accumulated fatigue of the week got the better of me, and it was almost 8:00 AM when, half asleep, I noticed that irresistible smell of freshly brewed coffee. When I opened my eyes, I was met with my husband's mischievous smile as he stared at me, holding a cup of coffee. It was a very nice, loving awakening.
A few minutes later, our son entered the room with his deep voice and said enthusiastically, “Mom, today is family flavor day.” I couldn't help but laugh out loud, because that phrase is already a classic in our house. It means that we're not going to cook or stay at home, but rather go out to enjoy a meal and time together. While I was sleeping, they had already planned everything. All I had to do was go with the flow, and I loved it. Because of my day-to-day work, I'm usually the one who plans and makes decisions, so it's really nice for me to just go with the flow.
We got ready calmly and set off for the town of Mariño. Although you can get good prices in some shops these days, we weren't going out with the intention of buying anything today. The goal was very simple: to share, laugh, enjoy the walk, and, of course, have lunch somewhere special.
Espero que estén disfrutando su fin de semana y que este día esté siendo tan encantador como el mío. Hoy quiero compartirles una experiencia que, aunque sencilla, estuvo llena de esos pequeños detalles que hacen muy amenos y hermosos.
Mi día comenzó con un aroma a café súper delicioso que me despertó suavemente. Suelo levantarme temprano todos los días, ya sea por costumbre o por las responsabilidades del trabajo, pero esta mañana fue diferente. El cansancio acumulado de la semana me venció, y fue casi a las 8:00 AM cuando, entre sueños, percibí ese olor irresistible a café recién colado. Al abrir los ojos, me encontré con la sonrisa pícara de mi esposo, que me miraba fijamente mientras sostenía una taza de café. Fue un despertar muy lindo lleno de cariño.
A los pocos minutos, nuestro hijo entró a la habitación con su voz grave y dijo con entusiasmo: “Ma, hoy es el día del sabor en la familia”. No pude evitar soltar una carcajada, porque esa frase ya es un clásico en casa. Significa que no vamos a cocinar ni a quedarnos en casa, sino que saldremos a disfrutar de una comida y de tiempo juntos. Mientras yo dormía, ellos ya habían planeado todo. A mí solo me tocaba dejarme llevar por su iniciativa, y eso me encantó. Por el trabajo día a día tengo que ser yo la que planifique, tome decisiones y la verdad que está muy bien por mi dejarme llevar.
Nos preparamos con calma y salimos rumbo al municipio Mariño. Aunque en estos días se consiguen buenos precios en algunos comercios, hoy no íbamos con intención de comprar nada. El objetivo era muy simple; compartir, reírnos, disfrutar del paseo y, por supuesto, almorzar en algún lugar especial.
The weather, as always on the island, surprised us with its contrasts. We went from a light drizzle to bright sunshine in a matter of minutes. It's part of the charm of living in Margarita, where there are no distinct seasons, but rather a rainy season that feels like our own tropical winter.
El clima, como siempre en la Isla, nos sorprendía con sus contrastes. Pasamos de una llovizna ligera a un sol radiante en cuestión de minutos. Es parte del encanto de vivir en Margarita, donde no hay estaciones marcadas, pero sí una época lluviosa que se siente como nuestro particular invierno tropical.
After exploring the city a bit and enjoying its sights, it was time for the long-awaited “taste test.” Our son chose to have lunch at El Punto Criollo, a restaurant he hadn't had the opportunity to visit with us before. It was the perfect time to share that experience with him. This restaurant is very family-friendly, ideal for large groups, as it has large, comfortable tables. Its menu is varied, with options ranging from Creole dishes to Italian fare. I love that diversity, because there's always something for everyone.
Después de recorrer un poco la ciudad y disfrutar de sus paisajes, llegó la esperada “hora del sabor”. Nuestro hijo eligió almorzar en “El Punto Criollo”, un restaurante que él no había tenido la oportunidad de visitar con nosotros. Era el momento perfecto para compartir esa experiencia con él. Este restaurante es muy familiar, ideal para grupos grandes, ya que cuenta con mesas amplias y cómodas. Su menú es variado, con opciones que van desde platos criollos hasta propuestas italianas. Esa diversidad me encanta, porque siempre hay algo para cada gusto.
As expected, our son ordered his favorite combination: chicken, potatoes, and tostones. My husband and I opted for a cachapa with cheese, which they prepare generously and deliciously at that place. We sat down, talked, laughed, and enjoyed every bite. We truly love those simple moments, full of connection. I am quite certain that in the future, these will be memories we will recall with great fondness.
Como era de esperarse, nuestro hijo pidió su combinación favorita: pollo, papas y tostones. Mi esposo y yo optamos por una cachapa con queso, que en ese lugar preparan de forma generosa y deliciosa. Nos sentamos, conversamos, reímos y disfrutamos cada bocado. Esos momentos sencillos, pero llenos de conexión, los amamos verdaderamente. Mui segura estoy de que en el futuro serán recuerdos que evocaremos con gran ternura.
After lunch, even though we were more than satisfied, the outing couldn't end without my husband's ritual: ice cream. For him, a special day isn't complete without one. So we headed to the Parque Costa Azul shopping center, where we knew we could enjoy a good McFlurry. I ordered the caramel one, while they chose the chocolate one. We walked through the aisles, admiring the murals and letting ourselves be enveloped by the relaxed atmosphere of the place.
Después de almorzar, y aunque estábamos más que satisfechos, el paseo no podía terminar sin el ritual de mi esposo, el helado. Para él, un día especial no está completo sin uno. Así que nos dirigimos al centro comercial Parque Costa Azul, donde sabíamos que podríamos disfrutar de un buen McFlurry. Yo pedí el de arequipe, mientras ellos eligieron el de chocolate. Caminamos por los pasillos, admirando los murales y dejándonos envolver por el ambiente relajado del lugar.
On our way home, the sky gave us a magical farewell: an extraordinary mix of reddish, gray, and bluish tones. It was as if the day was saying goodbye to us with a beautiful smile.

Al regresar a casa, el cielo nos regaló una despedida mágica: una mezcla de tonos rojizos, grises y azulados que era extraordinario. Era como si el día nos dijera adiós con una linda sonrisa.
