The tenth month of the year started in Venezuela with the announcement by the government that Christmas was here, and therefore the characteristic atmosphere of December was going to appear from now on all over the country. This sort of decree stimulated content creators on social networks, who began to publish memes and funny videos mixing things from Halloween, which is on October 31, with things from Christmas.

El décimo mes del año comenzó en Venezuela con el anuncio por parte del gobierno de que la Navidad estaba aquí, y por lo tanto el ambiente característico de diciembre iba a aparecer desde ya en todo el país. Esta especie de decreto estimuló a los creadores de contenido en las redes sociales, que comenzaron a publicar memes y videos graciosos mezclando cosas de Halloween, que es el 31 de octubre, con cosas de la Navidad.

When you go out on the street, is like that literally, you see display cases and shelves with pumpkins, skulls and witches and at the same time nativity scenes,, Santa Claus, trees and all the Christmas paraphernalia.

Cuando sales a la calle, es así literalmente, ves vitrinas y estantes con calabazas, calaveras y brujas y a la vez pesebres, Santa Claus, árboles y toda la parafernalia navideña.

Some media, especially foreigners, began to say that in Venezuela they had changed the date of Christmas, that how was that, etc., but in reality the matter is simply about bringing forward the festive atmosphere, besides it is not the first time that this happens, but previously it had been announced in November. Public places such as squares and parks have already been decorated and many stores have done the same, taking advantage of the fact that companies and government agencies have begun to pay the year-end bonus and people are already buying clothes, toys and other personal or household items.

Algunos medios de comunicación, sobre todo extranjeros, comenzaron a decir que en Venezuela habían cambiado la fecha de la Navidad, que cómo era eso, etc., pero en realidad el asunto se trata simplemente de adelantar el ambiente festivo, además no es la primera vez que esto sucede, pero anteriormente había sido anunciado en noviembre. Los sitios públicos como plazas y parques, ya han sido adornados y muchas tiendas han hecho lo mismo, aprovechando que las empresas y entes gubernamentales han empezado a pagar el aguinaldo y la gente compra desde ya, ropa, juguetes y otras cosas personales o para el hogar.

In Venezuela, Halloween is not a tradition or part of the culture as it is in the United States, here they have simply used the date for some years to sell allusive objects, costumes, to make theme parties, etc., that is, it is something purely commercial and many people take advantage of it to have fun with it.

En Venezuela, Halloween no es una tradición ni parte de la cultura como lo es en Estados Unidos, aquí simplemente desde hace unos años han utilizado la fecha para vender objetos alusivos, disfraces, hacer fiestas temáticas, etc., o sea, es algo netamente comercial y mucha gente aprovecha para divertirse con esto.

I've never bought anything for Halloween, but there's some really eye-catching stuff, especially if you want to dress up or put on makeup, and then you can use it for carnivals too 😄.

Nunca he comprado nada para Halloween, pero hay cosas muy llamativas, sobre todo si quieres disfrazarte o maquillarte, y luego te pueden servir también para carnavales 😄.
