Exploring Naju City: A Peaceful Journey in South Korea

As I walk through the streets of Naju City in South Korea, I feel a calmness that’s hard to find in bigger cities like Seoul or Busan. Naju is a city full of history, culture, and natural beauty, making it a special place to explore.

A Walk Through History

Naju is one of South Korea’s oldest cities, with a history going back over a thousand years. My first stop is the Naju National Museum, where I see ancient pottery and artifacts from long ago. Not far from the museum is Naju Mokgwana, a historic site from the Joseon Dynasty. As I wander through the old buildings, I imagine how people worked and lived here many years ago.

The Famous Pear Orchards

Naju is well-known for its delicious pears, which are crispy and sweet. As I walk along roads lined with pear trees, especially in spring when they are in bloom, the sight and smell are amazing. I taste a fresh pear from a local seller, and it’s incredibly juicy and refreshing.

Tasting Naju’s Food

Naju is also famous for its food, especially Naju Gomtang, a rich beef soup. I stop at a small restaurant to try it, and the warm soup with tender beef is comforting and delicious. Later, I visit the Naju Five-Day Market, which is full of fresh produce, handmade crafts, and tasty street food. I try hotteok, a sweet pancake filled with sugar and nuts, which is a perfect snack as I explore the market.

Enjoying Nature

Naju is close to beautiful nature spots like Najuho Lake. I take a peaceful walk around the lake, enjoying the fresh air and lovely views. The lake is also a great place to watch birds. Nearby, the Naju Image Theme Park offers gardens and walking paths, where I enjoy the natural beauty of the area.

A City of Kindness

Throughout my journey in Naju, I’m touched by the friendliness of the people. Whether it’s a shopkeeper offering a free taste or someone helping with directions, the locals are warm and welcoming. This, along with the city’s history and beauty, makes Naju a wonderful place to visit.

My time in Naju has been a peaceful and enjoyable experience. It’s a city where the past meets the present, and where you can find both tradition and natural beauty. As I leave, I take with me the memories of this special place and its kind people.
