The Long-Awaited Pizza Party from Dubai Return Brother-in-Law

Some things instantly come to mind when you see someone’s face, and that’s exactly what happened with my brother-in-law. A while back, when he got his work permit and was about to leave for Dubai, I jokingly told him that there should be a pizza party to celebrate his job and departure. He replied, "If you stay until midnight, the party is on." Normally, I don’t stay that late, but coincidentally, I was at my in-laws' place that night until midnight. Then he ended up disappearing with his friends, so around 12:30 AM, I took my wife and kids home. I left him a message, saying it was disappointing that he didn’t keep his word and that the pizza was still due.

After that, whenever we’d chat on video calls, I’d bring it up, and he would always say, "When I come back, I’ll definitely give you that pizza party." So this year, when he returned in September, the first thing I asked was, "When’s the pizza party?" He set a date for Sunday, September 29th, and assured me it was happening.

On that Sunday, everyone gathered at my mother-in-law's place, and my Dubai-returned brother-in-law and I went to get the pizza. This is my younger brother-in-law, and we’ve had a good relationship even before my marriage, so we share a lot of jokes. Now, "Dubai return" means he’s got plenty of cash, money’s no problem, so I joked that he could easily host ten pizza parties, not just one! Without overthinking, he ordered six large pizzas with different flavors Fajita, Malai Boti, Afghani Boti, Supreme. Then I suggested we have them delivered since taking them ourselves could risk them getting cold. So he paid the delivery fee and arranged to have them sent to my in-laws' address.

Smoky Pizza and Pasta is close to their house, and their pizza is amazing, they’re very generous with the dough and toppings. We went back, and within half an hour, the pizzas were delivered. There’s a unique fun in eating pizza together; it’s just not the same alone. My wife and kids love pizza, so we cut slices of each flavor for everyone. There are always a lot of kids at my in-laws' place, and they were all ready and excited for dinner, everyone was hyped for the pizza!

Finally, my brother-in-law fulfilled his promise, and he was relieved to be done with the teasing I’d been giving him about it. After the pizza, we enjoyed some cold drinks, and everyone had a fantastic time. My Dubai-returned brother-in-law was really happy that he could finally throw the long-awaited pizza party we’d all been looking forward to. Sure, we eat pizza often, but there’s a special enjoyment in having someone else treat you. It was a joyful night, and we all had a great time.
