My day out with my cousin sister at Gausia Market in Dhaka, Bangladesh, was an adventure. We had a primary mission: to visit the wholesale clothing stores and buy or book products for her shop.

However, the day was an enriching experience filled with shopping, browsing, and tasting local delicacies.

Exploring Gausia Market

Gausia Market is a bustling hub of activity, known for its wide range of products from clothing to accessories. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by the vibrant atmosphere and the lively crowd. The market is a treasure trove for anyone looking to purchase clothes in bulk, as it houses numerous wholesale stores offering a variety of styles and designs at competitive prices.

We spent a considerable amount of time visiting different stores, comparing prices, and selecting the best pieces for my cousin's shop. The market was teeming with customers, and the shopkeepers were eager to showcase their collections. It was fascinating to see the latest fashion trends and the sheer variety of clothing available.

Browsing and Buying Small Items

After finalizing our purchases, we decided to explore the market further. We browsed through stalls selling various items like pins, hair clips, shoes, and other accessories. The market is not just about clothing; it offers an array of small, everyday items that are both useful and affordable.

We ended up buying some hair clips and pins, which were not only pretty but also reasonably priced. My cousin found a pair of shoes she liked, adding to the day’s shopping haul. The experience of haggling and getting good deals was enjoyable and added to the thrill of the shopping trip.

Tasting Local Delicacies

Shopping can be exhausting, and after a busy day of roaming around the market, we needed some refreshments. We decided to stop by a popular local eatery known as 'Mona Mama's Shop.' This place is well-known for its delicious street food, and we were eager to try some.

We ordered chicken soup and Halim, both of which are local favorites. The chicken soup was a comforting bowl of warmth, perfect for rejuvenating our tired selves. It was rich, flavorful, and had just the right amount of spices to make it delightful. The Halim, on the other hand, was a hearty dish made with lentils, meat, and a blend of spices. It was thick, wholesome, and incredibly satisfying.

Overall, the day went exceptionally well. We managed to accomplish our primary goal of shopping for the shop and also enjoyed browsing through various items in the market.

It was just not a shopping day but an experience. From the bustling energy to the wide range of products and the mouth-watering street food, it offers a slice of life in Dhaka that is vibrant and full of charm.

I look forward to more such trips, combining the joy of shopping with the pleasure of tasting local delicacies.

To be honest I always try to avoid market because markets are crowdy place and I don't like it but sometimes I need to go there.
Halim is my favorite.

I hate crowded market too. But leaving my son at home and had the opportunity to enjoy a girl's day out was something I didn't want to miss 😁
Halim is one of my favorites too.
