Common Cold or What?

in Daily Blog4 hours ago

I woke up feeling a bit sick earlier today.
As a doctor, it didn't take me a lot to put the symptoms I was having together and come up with the diagnosis of a common cold.

I struggled out of bed, brushed my teeth and quickly dashed to the road side to see if I could get some fruits especially citrus fruits like orange.

To my utter shock, the shops were all closed!
Then it dawned on me that it was election day here in Ondo State, Nigeria.
During the elections, everyone is expected to go to the polling units allocated to them and cast their votes.
So apparently, most shop owners had probably went to demonstrate their democratic rights.

Luckily for me as I moved 2 streets further, I found a woman who sold oranges.
And straightway I got a few!

Preparing for my afternoon shift, I decided to prepare something I could take with me to work.
The afternoon shift is a 6-hours shift that runs from 2pm to 8pm (WAT), So I needed to pack my lunch with me so I don't pass out at work. Lol.

Walking down the road again, there were no buses or cars, only a few people walked by the road too.
The main entrance gate to my place of work was also closed.
Only the pedestrian gate was opened.

Walking through the pedestrian gate, I was literally the only person on the way. Even though I loved the serenity and quietness, It made me value human connection amd relationships.
Life would definitely be boring without other people around.

It was a 15 minute trek from the University School gate to the University Health Centre where I work as a medical officer.

I also passed through the old health centre of the school.
It was a smaller place compared to the new health centre.

Being the only one along the road, I had a lot of time to take pictures and I found something interesting on the road as I took the shortcuts.

Ondo state is known to be blessed with a lot of mineral resources like different rocks including granite, gneiss and quartzite.

Taking this picture again made me appreciate the gift of nature.

I had to check google to know which type of rock these were and it looks like I had both granite and gneiss in the picture.

This was the final shortcut I took that led me to the Health centre area.

This is our new health centre, I took pictures from different angles.

This is the ward area where we manage In-patients

Thank you for reading my daily blog today.
It's also my first time here.
I hope you enjoyed it.

That reminds me, I feel much better after taking some Oranges and a lot of water to keep myself hydrated.

All pictures were taken with my Android Phone.
