Watching Olympics Badminton over lunch and also Saturday's at Aunt's

in Daily Blog3 months ago

It was semi-final for our country's women double, so husband and I decided to visit our favourite coffee shop for late lunch. We knew this shop would surely switch on the television for the live streaming. We brought along our youngest son because he loved watching badminton match. Eldest son would really enjoy too but he was at school. Let's!!!

Friday's Lunch while watching Olympic badminton!

My son posed for a photo! Haha!

Husband ordered a Chinese liver ginger soup to be shared among us. The liver soup was not in the menu but we had ordered from the lady boss many rounds, and she was always generous to give us one big full-packed liver soup at only RM5! Once a month, husband and I would eat some organs to get the nutrients in it.

Husband also ordered a curry noodle but he specifically swapped the yellow noodle to flat rice noodles. The curry was packed with fragrance from coconut milk and curry powder, super flavourful and addictive.

Initially, I wanted to order Kuching laksa but the boss said he took it out from the menu due to tedious prep. So I ordered from him my hometown noodle, Mee Pork aka flat noodle with soy sauce seasoning. It was super delicious too.

For drinks, we ordered watermelon juice for our son and an iced tea for the adults. I shared with my husband because I wanted to cut cost by not ordering drinks from shop, so I actually had made a hot coffee for myself in my coffee mug. Haha.

We thoroughly enjoyed the match together with everyone else. Filled with excitement and cheering at the shop. Our badminton players fought hard although they lost the match. We were still grateful and so proud of them for having such spirit of excellence in them. Great job!

Saturday's Lunch at Aunt!

Once again, Aunt was happy to see us especially when the boys tagged along. She also needed my help to pay some bills due to it the beginning of the month. And also finalising some hospital appointments dates.

She cooked for us Hakka pork stir fry with black beans. She soaked the black beans overnight and pre-boiled them for 2 hours until they were super soft then she stir fried the pork slices with the black beans. So delicious!

Another dish was steamed broccoli with prawns. This was super clear style of cooking. She firstly pre-made the gravy by sauteeing garlic with oil, then added anchovies to make the anchovies garlic broth. After the broccoli and prawns were cooked, she poured in the sauce onto the plate. Simple but super nutritious dish.

My sumptuous lunch

She packed the remainder for our dinner but the boys wanted rice vermicelli so I actually used the broccoli prawns dish to turn it into a rice vermicelli dish. I added some fried egg and leftover fish luncheon from yesterday's night, and stir frying the rice vermicelli with all the ingredients, seasoned with some light soy sauce. Wah, it turned out really great!

Weekend is always our favourite when we get to go slow a little, enjoy some moments with family at home, watching Olympics at television again, sharing with the boys various types of sports internationally. Always giving thanks for the day and looking forward to another day filled with renewed strength and love.

Wuaaaooooooo many delicious dishes. I think it's great the way you guys enjoy badminton. I was a badminton player for a few years and won medals at university. It's my favourite sport, although I can't play it here because there's no proper place for it.
