Saturday's Lunch at Aunt's place and Snacking on snacks from Philippines

in Daily Blog2 months ago

It was hectic week last week with few tasks I needed to do to help my Aunt. Bringing her to clinic for her usual followup appointment, going to phone centre to help her report her phone's faultiness, as well as going to government hospital to help her make an appointment for thorough heart check-up. So, when it came to Saturday, it was a relief to me because finally after busy five-days of running around plus cooking and house chores at home, I got to pause from cooking, because I would be eating Aunt's food. Yay!

Visiting Aunt and Lunch there!

This is my Aunt, at the end of the visitation, she would pack for us the remainder food for our dinner, as well as her dinner. Actually, I did mention to her that she doesn't need to cook for us, that I can pack for her on Saturday. However, she doesn't prefer to eat outside food, and she said it is her honor to cook for us once a week because we support her financially too, which she said we need not to, but we still do it monthly. She also said I have been a great help to her too. Bless her big heart! She blessed our big heart too.

Lunch with love

She cooked for us beautiful steamed minced pork, topped with steamed potatoes and carrots. Always love her minced pork which was always well-marinated. This time she did add some slices of salted fish into the minced pork too. It was too delicious.

Besides the minced pork dish, she also boiled a Chinese herbal soup for us. This one she added red dates, goji berries, Solomon's seal, and longan. Simple hearty soup like this was so mouth-watering, not to mention, super healthy and nutritious. Slurps!!

While I was chatting with Aunt, the boys were happily playing in the room. Haha

It was my supposedly clean-house day, but husband noticed I was extremely tired already. He commanded me to ditch my cleanliness mindset and to put on resting mindset. So, I did. I came home just going slow, intentionally to rest my body. We had some snacks too from Philippines, husband just back from there. Yay! Let's snack!

Chicaron

This deep fried pork belly fat, famous snack at Philippines. A wowzer! And super addictive. Once you bite one time, you can't stop. Haha!

Banana chips

This is another famous snack which is marketed for tourists at Philippines. I would say this is healthier than commercialise ultra processed chips. Addictive too! We munched this while watching Netflix at home. My luxury because I seldom have time to watch TV. Lol.

Sweet Potatoes biscuits

This one was given to my husband as souvenirs. We had not tried but they told my husband that it was very delicious. I will try it soon with my coffee.

Then, my brother and his wife contacted me saying they bought a viral chicken flossie puff for us.

Chicken Flossie Balls

These balls were so so good. Addictive. We all love chicken floss and these were not the usual chicken floss bun. The balls inside were fluffy spongy cake-life puffs, cut into half, cream in the center, chicken floss coating on the outside. Every bite was so satisfying. Each of us got to eat two balls, then the boys and husband laughed so loud when I said that. Hahaha. If you know, you know...

Although it was a busy week last week, it was fruitful and joyful because finally my husband was back from Philippines and we got to spend time together at home. I also achieved my daily-cooking-tasks and got to save some money on those budget meals. I got to help my Aunt because she no longer able to walk a lot due to stiffness on her feet. And most importantly, I got to hang on to God's promise that His joy will be my strength.
