Yesterday, we commemorated our cousins’ 20th birthday. When their mother talked about her twins, she said that she did not expect to have two children at once. Since her child was already four at that time, she thought they would not have another child. It also seemed impossible because her spouse unfortunately passed away due to tetanus. Back then, it was quite difficult to distinguish the twins when they were kids. The only things that set them apart were their height and attitude. Now that they are older, their differences are more noticeable, as the heavier one is the youngest.
Without further ado, let's dive right in to the birthday celebrant.
Picture Taking

We were not part of the picture taking because my sibling was late again, as usual. In fact, he took a bath first, and it took him 20 minutes to finish. On the other hand, I finished earlier, although I know I could have taken longer if I spent more time using Kojic soap. I even changed clothes after getting out of the bath room while he was still only wearing his shirt. When we arrived, they had already finished taking pictures. We are just late due to our timidness since our house is only 100 to 200 meters away.
Foods Prepared

For the food, they prepared liempo, lumpia, lechon head, and sisig as the main dishes. They also served pasta, specifically spaghetti. For desserts, they had macaroon, gulaman (I’m not exactly sure what it is), orange juice, cake, and toasted bread with peanut butter on the side.
Among all the food, what I enjoyed the most was the lumpia, although I am already used to eating it. Believe it or not, I have been eating this dish consistently from December 22 until today. Their lumpia has a specific taste that my mom cannot even duplicate. I also enjoyed the liempo and drank a lot of juice. On the other hand, I tried the lechon head, but it was not to my taste. My aunt and cousins also shared their frustration about feeling high blood pressure.
Cake Celebration

In our tradition, blowing the cake usually happens before eating. However, my relatives already seemed hungry and did not greet the birthday celebrant beforehand. Because of that, we sang “Happy Birthday” in two languages and blew the cake after eating. I loved the flavor of the cake, and I even ate it as my breakfast since there were leftovers. I hope it was not the same cake we ate last time that caused green stool. Based on my research, though, it was just food coloring, and there is nothing to worry about unless other symptoms appear.
Coffee

While waiting for my aunt’s spouse, they talked about almost everything under the sun. If I am not mistaken, they discussed load promos, WiFi providers, and other topics. My aunt also prepared hot water and coffee for those who wanted to drink. In my case, I refused since I had already consumed a lot of orange juice. I also avoid drinking coffee unless it is in the morning. We are already anticipating our cousin’s debut, so we are a bit excited about how it will turn out. This also makes me excited to share about my 21st birthday last September.
When I was younger, I dreamed of having twins.
Yet, adult ko life made me realized that raising such is not a joke.
Happy birthday to your cousins.
Minsan nasa lahi lang kasi yan te hehe
