Working in a public school is draining in some sort. The population of the students are massive and the classrooms are not totally so conducive. The only time I can feel relief is when it is my break time.
I get to do things in my convenience. Have a nap, drink some coffee, chitchat with colleagues and so much more. This afternoon, I decided to head out the canteen and buy some snack.
TUBURAN NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL CANTEEN (Tuburan, Cebu, Philippines)
Like any other institutions, we also have our own canteen at school that sells our favorite snacks and go-to foods.
Our canteen is not that massive, but it caters the needs of the learners here in Tuburan National High School.
Outside the canteen is this tent where these ladies sells snacks like: tempura, fish balls and fries. I love this corner right here because I am a fan of eating fries.
As you can see, during this time, there were a lot of learners waiting in line for their Que. Just like any other stores, buying in a school canteen will always have a first come, first serve policy.
The girl offered me to overtake in the line and process my order first, regardless if their are a lot of learners waiting for their turn. But I insisted, because I don’t want the learners to feel that I am being superior. Regardless if I am a teacher, I must fall in line and wait for my turn pariently. After all, I am not in a rush.
This was the school surroundings during this time when I went out around 3:00 in the afternoon. Few students are out taking their break.
Here is my order. Some sour cream- flavored fries.
I paid forty pesos for two orders and I brought it to my classroom so I could eat it there in peace. During times like breaks, I choose to stay inside my classroom and enjoy my sanity. I also have a strong wifi connection in my classroom that is why I always like to stay inside.
I have my own mini pantry in my classroom cabinet. I also have my own water heater. I boiled the water then prepared myself some hot choco.
For you it may be such a small thing, but as public school teachers, having a little time to relax and unwind having in-between shifts breaks are life-savers.
It is a time we get to relax and stop talking and discussing. A time for ourselves and do what makes us feel at ease.
Have a break, have a hot choco! Ciao!♡
If only we had a better education system that not only provided the best for our learners but also for our educators. Wouldn't it be fantastic if every school included a relaxing teacher's lounge that they could utilize during break time? They truly deserve it after all their hard work. If only.
True! I highly agree with that, @cindee08 ! Being a teacher might be the noblest job but it also is the most underpaid and undervalued one. Regardless, we still strive to do our best though. #ParaSaBataParaSaBayan ❤️
Gigutom ko nag tan-aw sa mga food😄
Salute all public teachers out there!
