And we made it home! As much as I adored The Clearwater River Escape, there is something so wonderful about walking in one's door and executing a graceless WWE-like move into one's comfy bed.
Yes, I do have a flair for the dramatic, at least when it comes to coming home.😁
Speaking of dramatic, I am procrastinating the starting of my day a bit right now. Last week I had all my schoolwork done by Wednesday, I executed a three day assignment completing marathon of the likes that would make a mid terms cramming student scream, so I could take four days off and enjoy my time with the hubs.
But now, now I sit here at my keyboard, hesitating a bit to dive in.
For you see, I have multiple papers to write this week. Yes, multiple. I have to write an exposition on literature, a chapter analysis in science, an case assessment paper, and a theory paper. That's on top of all of my other assignments this week.
It's going to be a bit of a banger.
Plus, winter is NIGH! As I walked out to the barn this morning to tend to the hens (AND OSCAR THE DUCK), it was quite literally freezing. That of course reminded my homesteading soul that I have to wrap things up around here and my time for doing so is growing slim.
So, after class today, I have to do more than a bit of farming things. I need to work on my small potato project, a thing I will be blogging about soon. I need to organize my food storage. I need to break apart the seed garlic. I need to help stack the firewood. I need to winterize faucets. I need to clean the chimney. I need to put things away. I need, I need, I need!
I'm like the homesteading chore version of Veruca Salt!!😁
Honestly though, instead of being all weird and stressed about it, I've got this sense of purpose and peace emanating through my Kat-core. You see, I just got to do something that I haven't done since 2016. I spent three consecutive days resting.
It's amazing what a good, actual rest will do for one's perspective.
So, bring on the composition and endless to-do's! I feel rather rejuvenated!
In fact, I have all sorts of ideas and schemes. Great things are happening all over the place, I just needed to stop and smell the steelhead a bit down on The Clearwater River.
For far too long I have been neglecting being me. Years ago I used to collect rocks and gems. I used to sneak in a hike or two in the wilderness every year. I used to do art.
Illness and adulting have taken so much of my energy and time the past couple of years. It's time to balance the scales a bit.
So while I will always be a bit of a worker bee, tis time to take a bit of this existence for the care and practice of being me.
And I think that is a perfect place to mute this Monday Musing😊
Well ... if it makes you feel any better, up here in the north we are a couple weeks closer to winter. Woke up to the remnants of frost on the lawn and windows. But now I look out on a beautiful day.
May your coffee flow well during your tasks:)
