Mid-Week Motivational Sensationalism

Oof, doing six months of catch up in paperwork-land has really sapped my wanna-do-anything motivation right out of my body. After finishing up school for the semester on Sunday, I spent the last two full days accomplishing a to-do list of champions. I completely cleaned and organized our office, finally got our son's yearbook tribute written and the pictures emailed to the school along with the text, ordered next semester's textbooks, did the rest of the months bills, went through the entire year's paperwork, burned papers, filled out the yearly scholarship portal (including writing two essays), logged into the state tax and Secretary of State portals to tend to farm paperwork, activated credit cards, checked mail, got the farm books in order, did I already say pay bills?

I don't even know any more, it just kept going.

This morning I got up and baked the hubs a loaf of bread, fed Buford (my sourdough starter), and made some sourdough pie dough for the experimental pie I am going to bake after I finish this missive. I'll write and post about that awesomeness (I hope) later.

Anyway, after sorting my latest batch of papers and doing the tribute stuff this morning, I had write a blog post on my to do list. It was as I got to that point something hit me that hardly ever hits me.

I didn't feel like writing.

EGADS! GASP! THE HORROR!

Dramatics aside, I rarely ever don't want to write. It's a sign that I am feeling a bit on the burned out side. Okay, I probably resemble an egg that has been hanging out on the tarmac of the Phoenix airport in July. At least mentally I do.

And then it hit me! I am basically done with my end of semester paperwork catchup extravaganza. Aside from a bit of Christmas gifting prep fun, I am facing something rather splendid that starts on the 22nd, I am going on vacation for ten whole days.

Other than a smattering of dates full of fun with friends and family, I refuse to plan anything TO DO during that time. My brain and carcass need a break. Heck, I need some fun! Although I am a bit of a whimsical clown by nature, my meter has been drained down to low energy alert by all this lifing I have been doing.

In fact, I have had no actual break since January 13th of this year. It has been a continual melee of school, baking, school, momming, farming, wifing, and oh yes, school.

So, you can bet that I am starting to feel a little more perk in my giddyup as I think about having an actual vacation full of fun, fellowship, and not doing a damn thing!

Could it really be true?

On that note, it's pie composition time!!

And as most of the time, all of the images in this post were taken on the author's not really ever tired and still rather shiny and new iPhone.

I would say you are more than due for a vacation! Hope it is restful and rejuvenating.
