Happy New Year Everyone

I would like to wish each and everyone of you a Happy New Year and may it be better than 2025 which should not be that hard to achieve. I believe it is up to you to make the difference and not to rely on others so the future of 2026 is firmly in your hands whether you make a success of it or not.

I am not really a party animal unless I am in the right crowd and environment and last night thank fully had no party plans. I would never leave the dogs at home alone with fireworks going off anyway as my big "puppy" Brock is rather skittish with big bangs and literally goes into a cold sweat. I do think it is the reason of how we ended up with him in the first place and this is when he escaped from his previous owners when fireworks were going off. We got him in February and when he was found running the streets he must have been on the run for a good two weeks. This accounts for his skills of tipping wheelie bins , killing rats and drinking out of puddles.

Last night our neighbors who are generally as quiet as mice had some form of party with alcohol flowing decided they would let off some fireworks. I am assuming this was their first time doing so and why I paid attention not only because of Brock, but because of them being right next door and the safety of my property and my well being.

Over the years I have seen some horrendous "good ideas" when alcohol is involved witnessing another household up the street somehow letting off fireworks horizontally down the street which were literally exploding at property wall height. When we lived on the golf course it was a rainy New Years Eve and a household let them off from their lounge and the only reason we knew is we could see the firework going off before rebounding back into the house. They had some fancy architecture over the pool area that never made for a clear flight path and I found it highly entertaining. They were well away from where I was so it was safe viewing.

last nights neighbors were bang on the side of my property letting them off within 10 meters of where I was standing. I could not see them lighting the fireworks because the boundary wall separated us, but could clearly hear them and knew the exact moment when I heard their footsteps running away. Granny was concerned for Brock, but I kind of guessed their budget by how they look after their property and figured maybe 10 or 12 fireworks and they will be done. I counted 14 so I was close and thankfully they never had unlimited funds like some of the other houses seem to have.

These fireworks were also from the low end bargain bin specials where the first part blew at roof top level and the second part blew at double that height. No big lights in the sky which you would expect and more bang than wow that was pretty type fireworks. The running away each time amused me and thought this lot would be dangerous with a Christmas cracker let alone a firework.

Next year they may have a bigger budget if they work in a government department so if we are still here which is most likely then I need to think of sedating Brock to help keep him calm. I have never been a big fan of fireworks unless it is in an area that is not residential. The dogs and cats must be terrified and the so called animal loving houses do not seem to care. One just has to look at the peak period for strays in major cities and it is the week after New Year when they animal shelters have their spike in stray occupancy.

Happy New Year to you and your family as well!

My neighbors are crazy, but yours are not any different. Good thing they can't afford much, so you got off cheap and fast, but poor Brock. I hope he is better today.

Happy new year to you too!

Something similar happened next door over here. The bangs were so loud that I thought the fireworks were lit inside the compound but then went to check and realized it was just beside the fence. I enjoyed guessing the variety of colored lights the fireworks took. Happy new year to you too :)

Fireworks seems to be a full world holiday😂

My dogs hate em too and thankfully our household isn't one that usually fires em off.
