Today I’m sharing a project I made a few weeks ago, and until now I hadn’t found the time to post about it here. I painted a little wooden box I’ve had for ages, it works as a jewelry box, and I’ve had this box for so long that I’m not even sure how many years, but definitely over a decade. It’s a simple wooden box with a glass top and a few dividers, which I bought at a craft store specifically so I could decorate it someday.
Back then, it was just raw wood, and I was perfectly happy to paint it in a sort of aqua blue shade. And that’s how it stayed for more than ten years. I thought it was pretty, but recently I looked at it and realized it no longer matched the current aesthetic of my bedroom. I also noticed the color was quite worn and faded, with some little marks and old stains.
So I decided to give it a makeover. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of the blue color it used to be, sorry about that. My first step was to paint the box pink, in a very light pastel shade that I like, and then I drew on top using permanent markers. The drawing part was definitely the most fun, and I didn’t plan anything beforehand. I just went for it in the moment, following whatever I felt like doing, and that’s usually how I prefer to approach my projects: intuitively, just feeling it out and creating as I go.
I think the little box turned out super cute, really really cute. I love seeing it now on top of my dresser, which doubles as an improvised vanity. I hope you liked it too. See you in the next project.
