Good morning everyone and welcome back to my Splinterlands blog where today I will be making another post to participate in the weekly challenges to help fund my deck as well as grow my hive account, and it's both been growing quite nicely, since I started growing my hive account, I went from 400 to over 600 hive power already, looking good!
Also, in general the salt is flushed away and good things are coming to my favourite game again, it looks like we have seen the bottom for the SPS token, now up 94% from the bottom and 114% from the last top, also DEC is getting closer to peg and my deck value is also increasing again, good times are coming!
The challenge theme for this week is to make a post about one of the new promo cards, to find out how you can participate in the challenge yourself, you can check out the splinterlands post here.
I decided to make one about Sanctus Vicar, let's take a look!
Vicar has a new ability called 'cleanse rearguard' which is about the same as the normal cleanse ability but instead cleansing the tank, it now cleanses the last card in your team.
The break points are at level 4, where it also picks up the normal cleanse ability, cleansing both the back and front every turn, very nice!
Next break point is at level 7 where it picks up an extra ranged damage, and the of course level 8, the step to max level is always a very good extra, in this case it receives reflection shield.
Currently trading at $1.95 per BCX, I only have Vicar at level 1 to utilize his back cleansing, and while my first thought was 'nice for poison matches' I thought about a very cool different strategy I will show you in a moment 😃
Earlier this week I already made a post about my two new cards I enjoyed playing and are both very strong, it was about Igor Darkspear and Wave Brood I now both own at max level, in my next strategy, Wave Brood has a very nice synergy with both Angelic Mandarin to heal it with the triage ability, and Vicar cleansing him in case my opponent brings affliction to stop the healing, and it's a really fresh battle too, in fact I have just played it before starting to make the thumbnail for this post!
First look at the battlefield:
Oh a max level Immortalis team, this high up in the leagues, I'm currently fighting in Diamond 3 which is pretty high for me and it's where I usually end in the season as well, it's only 1 day and 7 hours left until the end of the season.
The shatter can become a problem for me though, let's see how it goes.
My strategy: Diemon Shark and Coastal Sentry and Deeplurker are my kill team (thank god my opponent didn't bring a max Arkemis) while the last three are there to distract the enemy team so my kill team can survive and do their job.
My Line-Up:
- Summoner: Possibilus the Wise - reason: Reach + Trample to do high amounts of damage every turn.
- First position: Diemon Shark - reason: Good damage, awesome when he get's enraged, retaliate is devastating.
- Second position: Coastal Sentry - reason: High damage double striker.
- Third position: Deeplurker - reason: High damage with opportunity and poison.
- Fourth position: Sanctus Vicar - reason: Cleansing Wave Brood.
- Fifth position: Angelic Mandarin - reason: Heal Wave Brood.
- Sixth position: Wave Brood - reason: Taunt to distract and return fire to archers.
The Battle:
Round 1: O wow, I didn't knew Uloth had triage at higher level, in fact, I have never seen it at a higher level, double triage can be a problem, hopefully my team does enough damage... For now, not much has happened because of all the healing.
Round 2: Oh the cleanse works nice, and it has a perfect speed difference too, Goblin Psychic with 2 speed dropping affliction, right after with 1 speed Vicar is cleansing affliction again. 😊
Diemon Shark is getting low on HP though... hopefully it can dodge some attacks from Mycelic Infantry.
Round 3: Now we're talking! both the enemy tank AND second in position, Spirit Hoarder got killed because of the trample, with Goblin Psychic in the first position the rest shouldn't be hard to kill.
Round 4: Only one active attacker left since Uloth can't fire from the first position, he can however still heal the taunt, but he will get killed before it's his turn, in fact I think I will kill both enemy monsters before they're able to strike again.
Round 5: Coastal Sentry made the kill shot, winning the battle.
You can watch the battle unfold for yourself here.
A pretty solid reward, over 400 glint and almost 6 SPS, my SPS bag is growing nicely this way! 😍
Well, that's it for this week, I still have some battles to do and family things to engage with so I hope to see you again on one of my other posts, or maybe we will face each other on the battlefield!
