The Gardener

In the depths of an ominous forgotten garden, where flowers withered and life seemed to die out, an evil presence lurked in the undergrowth.

A dark and twisted being that fed on the hatred, jealousy and envy that flowed from human hearts.

This creature, once a gardener possessed by bitterness, had cursed the place as the beauty of its roses was eclipsed by other, more colourful flowers.

In his sick mind, he could not conceive that beauty could flourish without rivalry and bitterness.

With his gnarled hands, black as rotting earth, he began to mutilate and disfigure every new flower that dared to bloom.

He tolerated neither joy nor splendour, for his soul was consumed with the most visceral envy.

The agonised cries of flowers being uprooted echoed in the night, luring unwary visitors into the depths of the garden.

One by one, they fell victim to the creature, who with its sharp nails tore open their entrails to devour their warm, beating hearts.

Only the black hearts, eaten away by resentment and jealousy, managed to momentarily appease the creature's sickly hunger.

But it was never enough; it needed to feed constantly on human evil to survive.

Those whose souls were brimming with love, beauty and gratitude were his favourite victims.

For he enjoyed with sadistic devotion shattering the light that flowed from their spirits, choking their last glimmers of happiness in his claws as he slowly bled them dry.

In this dark garden of lost souls, only the evil gardener prevailed, condemned to an eternal existence feeding on the pain and ugliness he cultivated.
