The Godot Era Has Begun

in Game Development2 years ago

I have been extremely quiet on HIVE recently and I feel like I need to state from the beginning it had nothing to do with the crypto price drops. I've still been posting on alt-tech in general it's just not all of it has been games development related and also I have still been pretty busy with renovation work. That is all finally ending now as we're finishing off the last bits we can do on our own and then it's just a couple more tradesmen visits with some smaller jobs and then that's it.

The good news is now for the second half of the year especially I will be ramping up like crazy my work as I want to do all of this professionally of course and I'm dead serious about it. As such, not only am I continuing by the gods development I have also started a new project that's smaller which I haven't named yet. What I will tell you though is that it's a top down space sim kind of like SPAZ. You'll get all the pew pew of a space sim but also I plan on having it so you can do ship boarding and so on so it will have shooter elements as well.

Another major change is that I have been making a switch to Godot. I have just uninstalled Unity completely after 5 years because I am starting to feel very comfortable with the engine now and will not only begin the process of getting By the gods working properly in Godot but also the top down space sim I'm developing is coming along. I'm getting very familiar with how the hierarchy in Godot behaves and also how to do all the basic stuff like UI and so on which will help a lot with the conversion of my By the gods project.

The top down space sim will be pretty basic in terms of graphics, but I plan on having it reasonably complex in terms of code and it will definitely have that sandboxy feel just like with By the gods. Think of maybe Terraria and Starbound in terms of style but it's going to focus a lot on the elements a space sim has because I've missed that genre a lot and it's not like anyone else seems to have plans to make them.

I can finally say goodbye to that stupid Unity backdoor problem but also there are plenty of other benefits like open source licensing with Godot that has made me make the switch, expect me to start carpet bombing alt-tech with content.

Dear @let123, we need your help!

The Hivebuzz proposal already got important support from the community. However, it lost its funding a few days ago and only needs a few more HP to get funded again.

May we ask you to support it so our team can continue its work this year?
You can do it on Peakd, ecency,

Hive.blog / https://wallet.hive.blog/proposals
or using HiveSigner.
